Best Sword & Shield Support Build?
Normally, a lot of people want the best DPS builds but nah, I like supporting along with using the Sword and Shield since it really suits me so I was wondering ... what is the best build I could possibly use with it? Please and thank you!

Aside from wide area and maybe a paralyze weapon what else are you hoping to do? What skills do you want in your build? Tell us what you want and maybe we can tell you gear and decorations that will give you all of it.

Nah I use LBG and choose to become support than dps
Wide Range 5, Mushroomancer 1, Free Meal and Speed Eating are the basics. You usually go for a CC weapon (para/sleep) because it helps even more than just chugging.
Don't forget to add damage into your build though because supports that only heal are mostly useless.

There are just not enough monster like Behemoth or Leshan to consider a supporter build. With the Arch Temper gone, support build becoming even more isolate. Lunastra is the only normal monster that capable to make the group struggle.

Health boost, life powders and health augment are all people need for defensive and offensive.

5 Wide range
3 Mushroomancer skill is a much have for wide range. The free dash juices is useful for bow or dual blade player. The jewel is rare tho. Unless you are lucky enough to find one.
3 Speed eating
1 Free meal
3 Divine protection
3 Tool specialist, useful for the health booster.

Those are the skill that I managed to build up.

As people said the only must have is Wide Range 4 or 5.

Mushroommancer 1/3, Freemeal and Speed Eating are all great additions but not at all needed any most of the fights.

Also seriously consider a Para weapon and traps. They really help your team with big damage windows.

If you must support in fights Id actually consider running a CC build over a heal build. HBG is the go to for this. Between sleep, KO and Para the team is never in danger.

Support builds depend on the monster, some monsters do not need supports but the few that do have to be specialized. For example ATV needs the xeno horn so that the entire party becomes immune to the wind pressure, while an lbg with slicing or a paralysis sns might be more preferred for Behemoth. A general purpose support build will usually have a KT paralysis SnS. Mushroomancer is still optional, and not worth the space it takes for the item loadout imo, especially since life powders heal for more. Stick to free meal, buff stacking (powder and seed) and removing debuffs *bleed, blight, etc)

I've been running Widerange support and it's amazing.

No1 nailed the basic skills you should aim for. Wide5, Gobbler3 & Free meal are Core skills. Mushmancer is a bit harder to build into but it's definitely better at healing and efficient on consumables.

If you're using SnS, go for Malady's Tambar for Paralysis status. If you can, slotting Paralysis attack makes a huge difference. In hunts, rush for that first para. Once it goes off, eat a Might Pill & drop a pitfall. Make sure you're bashing the head as much as possible for that sweet KO.
Basically, your goal is to keep everyone alive, make them strong, all while CC'ing the mon to create big openings for your party to deeps.

All Armor/Attack boost consumables stack with the exception of Seeds and Pills which override one another. Seed/Dust Last 3 minutes so has some small upkeep. Pills gives a considerable boost, but last 30ish seconds so are best popped when the monster is trapped, KO'd, and replaced with Seed after.

Astera Jerky is incredible with Wide-range. Best used after large burst/element damage, can restore upwards of 50% HP given that it's recoverable/red. Vital if carrying hunts like Vaal Hazaak - if anyone get's effluvium, purge status with Nulberry, use Astera Jerky to heal back all that missing hp.

If running Mushmancer things change up quite a bit. You get a lot more heals with Blue Mushrooms, you both consume and heal much faster with them so they're kinda OP. Same goes for other buffs given through Mushmancer.

Other than those, I'd recommend looking up a list of consumables that work with wide-range to figure out if there's anything extra you'd like to bring.
