Why did nobody tell me that palico rally is so good?
I've been farming a bunch of tempered elders for gems and ore and I decided to try palico rally for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles. After some practice I started getting much better completion times. Sometimes it is saving over 2 minutes and getting me more consistently below 10 minute hunts. I've been practicing hitting a full meowcano on a CC'd monster and I'm hitting for up to 78 per tick.

Why do people never talk about this amazing skill? I'm seeing a ton of use from it.

Hrm, didn't know it affected gadgets. Will have to test this as I'm running meowlotov most of the time.

Free meal secret is also amazing. I'm just surprised that palico rally is so much better than I thought.

People probably should've told you, Palico Rally is a good candidate for one of the most slept on skills in the entire game.

Back before IB released it did get some credit thanks to people doing palico-only ED runs that IIRC got to sub-10 minutes, which is insane, but it's kinda petered out after Iceborne. Which is a shame, considering Hard Meowster Jewels exist now, as does Meowcano.

Of course, player-boosting skills combined with good play will still get you better results than Palico Rally, but it's efficient enough that you won't be burdened in the slightest if you take it, honestly.

I'm just loving it because it's a viable way to play differently. I'm sure I'll be a better player without it after practicing how to use my palico whistle and position efficiently too. Honestly I guess that really started with me tranq bombing and having my cat trap monsters as soon as they were ready.

I'm also loving the satisfaction of my palico hitting a 1k damage meowcano while I hit a 1.4k damage tcs to the head.

It might be more common if Palico's stayed around even with 3-4 players. Though having 4 Palico's Meowcano a monster at the same time might be overkill. :vanilla:

I wonder how it would be with 2 people supporting palicos. Maybe have 1 with a horn and the other with GS or something else that hits hard and can be sheathed a lot.

Nobody really runs it because they could just pop a flare. It's pretty cheap as a skill. as two level 4 slots can get all 5 levels. But again, people probably feel like they can just pop a flare.

I don't like playing games with randos so I guess I'm influenced by that.

I got one of those Hard Meowster jewels (which just doesn't sound right), and the charm maxes the skill by itself as well, so I've been meaning to make a set that uses it. Just can't decide which weapon I want to go along with it. Anyone got a suggestion on that? Cool with everything except LS (because I've already meme'd LS to death).

I never slot it in because I'm usually too busy trying to get that massive laundry list of "meta" and weapon-specific "mandatory" skills equipped, so I never have room for things like Palico Rally.

Seriously as much as I'd love to be making meme sets I feel like the list of things I need for my builds outweighs basically everything atm. There's soooo much to do in iceborne, especially if you play basically every weapon like I do. On top of that you have to build ele sets for every single weapon except hammer, hbg and 1-2 others. Hell I have to get elemental sets for GS now because crit draw literally does more damage then true charge if you use the velkana set and abuse elements.

I used to have a "Meowster hunter" set that i could literally afk and have my palico kill things in sub 15 minutes with back before iceborne. I literally went afk with a ghillie mantle on once and came back to find the rathalos dead.

I use every weapon, in the sense that I've used every weapon and have a set built for every weapon (in practice I use half the weapons, and I'm merely competent in the rest). I don't do elemental sets, though. I do want to actually have some fun playing the game eventually, I'll go ahead and waste the extra couple of minutes per fight by ignoring resistances rather than spend another 200 hours building 4+ elemental sets for everything. The nerf to Elementless was very annoying for me.

Any tips for the build, though? The comment you responded to was asking a question. :csdsick:

bUt THeN I'lL mIss mY atTaCk 7 BoOOOooSt. If you want to see the real palico dps. Just put the monster to sleep and call in the meowcano. Won't wake it up and will consistently do damage while you're rebuffing, placing traps, bombs, sharpening, etc.

Wait what? Meowcano doesn't wake it up? I thought all sources of damage woke them up?

If you really want to buff your palico, bring a hunting horn.
You can give both you and it a huge attack boost (or element boost) depending on your loadout and weapon choices for both participants.
