Guiding Lands: bone + mining on map...
Is there a way to see the bone piles and mining spots on your map screen?

They only appear on your map when your scoutflies highlight them in game, so pretty much no. You have to be super close for them to do that, although I think there's a skill that increases scoutfly range, it's pretty useless.

They have a set amount of spawn points and always spawn on the edges of the region, the maps boundry etc. Best thing to do is just run around the whole place in a circuit until you find them.

there is a mod for that' tho as far as i know it only marks the "possible" spawn point, it does not mark the "current" spawned nodes

there are however mods to make the nodes more visible and easy to spot if that can help you

Nope, the map only retains things that are guarenteed to spawn. Stuff like GL outcrops or outcrops that only spawn during specific upsurge events are only marked temporarily.

there's a mod that marks all the possible locations on your map

You can actually get Giant crystal/bone drop from regular spawn, but it have to be at level 3 (red icon) and may the RNGesus bless you

Does the Shamos headpiece increase the minerals you can mine? Forager's Luck + Detector?

Pretty sure the special gathering point RNG influenced by Forager's Luck never affects GL bonepiles/mining node. You'll never see an especially shiny GL bonepile/mining node.

Detector, at best, might be able to detect giant outcrops when they show up but I very much doubt that.

i havnt really noticed myself, all foragers luck does is increase the odds of a node spawning to be sparkly so it has rarer drops. so i guess it depends on what your going bone picking / mining for. if you need the rarer stuff foragers luck should be brought, if you need the lower tier stuff more then i'd leave forager's luck at home.

Really, it's much more handy for them to not be shown on the map. Why? Well, there's a little trick here

As you know, as you gather those resources, the area's meter will increase. From yellow to orange to red. As it increases, the quality of loot does so as well, BUT... When this meter fills, the giant resource spot will spawn and this meter will reset to 25% or so. Which is NOT as beneficial as it may seem, because all this giant spot does is that it guarantees to get you top quality resource. Which is frankly pretty common as is...

But meter fills only if you completely deplete the spot. So what you can do is to fill it just enough for red spots to spawn, and then gather those one time less (ores can be gathered 3-4 times so gather 2-3 respectively). This way you'll get the highest chances to get the best coals and bones without resetting resource meters

And that's where it's handy for resource spots to not be shown on the map. For it to be shown at the map you have to get at pretty much point-blank. Which means if you see resource spot visually but not on the map - this spot is either completely fresh or it respawned after you gathered it. This way you can ensure you won't gather a spot fully and won't trigger a reset

Don't really agree with this method at all.

First, the Coal and crystallised bones (RP) you get loads of from Red nodes very quickly become near-worthless. Fuel and RP are useful resources, but you get so much of them that even people using them quite intensively should never run out.

Second, it's possible to get Guiding dragonbones/crystals from Red nodes but pretty rare. Considering these are the most valuable GL Gathering resources it's not worth praying to RNGesus and instead just taking as much as possible for guarenteed earnings.

Finally, the "common" GL resources you rarely get from Red nodes and instead more often get from yellow/orange nodes can actually be very valuable for many Augments. You want to get a large range of all 8 potential drops, not a large bias towards the "rarer" ones. Personally for me things like Effluvial Frenzybones are worth their weight in gold despite not being the "rarest" drop from Rotten Vale bonepiles.

Well, yeah... I can agree with that

This method is AMAZING, don't get me wrong. With that you can get pretty much 99% of vanilla decos in like 1 day. 5 Handis, 3 WEXs, 3 Crit Boosts... Also some very specific, but very important decos like Bow Charge Up, Guard Up or Mind's Eye. In 20 hours of gameplay my damage skyrocketed!

But after that... Yeah... Coal becomes near-worthless just as you say
