Switch Axe Build

I've been using the Charge Blade for almost every quest now and it's working quiet well. Now I would like to try out the SA, but I can't find a good build that doesn't need gems.
I know that gems are necessary but I don't have any good ones yet.
Could someone here post a good build, without gems? Or atleast what skills should I focus on.

Quick sheath and speed sharpening are never bad on any blade user. Focus is good for switch axes, increases the gauge charge rate. The rest is up to you honestly. Rathalos Power isn't bad for any build honestly, if you can swing it.

High Rank- Any set with protective polish(Odogaron 4-piece bonus), and attack-based boosts.
Low rank- anything you want.

Focus primarily on power phial weapons, though element phial is pretty strong now as well. If you're running an element switch axe, make armor pieces that increase the specific element type's damage.

I'm HR 37, so not low rank. What weapon though?
