It blows my mind that you can't turn glowflies off
They make everything neon green and spam text all over the screen. They serve zero purpose. You already see the monsters on the map, and I don't need every gathering spot to glow. How in hell isn't there an option to disable them?

I simply can't play this game, there's useless information all over the screen. There's texboxes popping everywhere even without you doing anything, green stuff flying in all directions at all times. What where they thinking?

The scoutflies are what get them to show up on the map...

The scoutflies are there simply to point out gather points and help you find monster tracks, and after the first couple tutorial hunts monsters will not show up on the map until you track them with the flies.

I miss paintballs, and I wish we had the option to use those instead. With that said, I'm kinda getting used to scoutflies. Also, you can stop them from tracking large Monsters by opening the map and deselecting the monster it's tracking. Sometimes you need to toggle it once or twice, but it makes things a bit more bearable until someone mods the textures to give off a bit less glow.

I miss paintballs too, but i wish there was some sort of medium. Scoutflies take the "tracking" portion out of the game despite it was supposed to make it feel that way with the seamless environment. Paintballs on the otherhand were great but sometimes (especially in Freedom Unite at G rank) could get tedious to track down a monster that kept hopping from one area to the next and that would just eat up time.

I do wish I could just turn off the scoutflies though and track the monster manually, just for the challenge.

Huh? Why do YOU want them?

No, footprints are what show monsters on the map... And I can already see the gathering points, they are right there in front of my eyes. And I know where they are after a quest or two in the same area.

"option to turn them off"
"no one should have them"

I'm sure there will to be mods in no time that will at least tone down the glow effect of scoutflies. Don't worry.
Denuvo bro, no mods

I mean, paintballs are the exact same thing except without the glowing trail. Previous games were more easily navigated than MHW. I feel like the scoutflies eased you into the new open maps.

You just KNOW somebody has screamed like a diaper soiling child "OBJECTIVE MARKERS ARE NOT REALISTIC".... When you're wearing the things right there on your belt.

Everyone ever crying over this sort of thing isn't ACTUALLY mad, they just feel obligated to act mad because it's on the checklist of "I have to cry about this to sound hardcore"

Thought I was the only one, they cause strain on my eyes when they're all up in your face when looking for the monster, a setting for hardcore tracking would be nice, you do get to see the footprints and marks before the flies highlight, gather a few and show the monster in the minimap and that's all you need. Gather points? If you're used to the game you dont need big bursting waves of light showing you that the colorful flower over there can be picked up :/

All the nostalgia for paintballs, yea no this system is way better. Paintballs were useless, monsters were so predictable in the old games they always spawned in the same locations and fallow the same paths when fleeing. I know people forget this with rose tinted goggles firmly stapled to there head.

The glow flies as you put it are nice. They serve there purpose well, they make it easy to distinguish fluff in the environment from actual objects, you know rather then gathering spots being that obvious rock on the ground over there in that corner, its probably not even a rock it could be spider webs, poop or wad of old chewing gum you won't know until you waste time gathering it.

Why are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ talking about paintballs? Paintballs show you where the monster is. This is about scoutflies.

That's what scout flies do... There other purpose is to highlight stuff in the environment since items are no longer extremely obvious at a first glance. Its a visual design thing to make information clear and not purposeful obtuse. It gets bonus points for incorporating the mechanic in the lore of the game rather then just highlighting the damn things in a red outline.
