Is there any good way to get Downy Crakes yet? Aka Phantom Bird quest.

I need 1 final ingredient and it's from this one. Already got all Iceborne ingredients as well. Problem is that they just don't show up... anymore. I encountered them once, but I screwed up big time.

Anyway, I know the methods you can use to spawn them and the most efficient locations. I know that they can appear at any time of the day, though it is speculated that they have a higher chance of appearing around dusk and dawn. Not that that matters much, considering Capcom just downright broke the daytime/nighttime travel progression system to prevent people from abusing a trick to get the jewels they want, so now no time progresses anymore from fast travelling.

I'm also using felyne zoomaster that supposedly makes rare endemic life spawns appear more often. Not sure if it helps for endemic life that's extremely rare in the first place. And yes, I've also tried the method of just looking away from them and waiting until they hopefully spawn. I vary between many of the methods that are supposed to work.

Anyway, after that 1 mess up I haven't seen them a single time and I've spend hours fast travelling. Even with the incredibly fast load times on this version with an SSD they still just won't show up.

So... does anyone have a method that actually provides a high chance of them showing up? My game RNG/luck is the worst a lot of the time and it's always been the worst (Monster Hunter being no exception. But for a recent example in this game... my brother got 6 Great Spiritveign Gems by the time I got my first one and we fought the monsters together and both grabbed around the same amount of shinies).

That's how I get mine, and later spawns I encounter is usually when I don't have the camera on the herd when I run pass them
They aren't that rare as Briskly crake to be honest

Very best choice? Trading. I got like 3 from trading treasure randomly (pawswap) with the Felyne clans.

Already tried the method Nope. And starting at down is a problem with no way to influence time. That's 1 shot every 15 or so minutes. Can't say I've had much trouble finding the Bristly Crakes. But it's rather easy to check when doing Rotten Vale and no monster will chase it away. There's also the rare fish spawn in the close by.

I didn't know you could trade in Iceborne. I'll try that first. How do you trade though?

Increase unity with tailriders enough and you'll unlock the ability to Pawswap with them at their tribe camp (as well as fast travel there), there's a unique icon on the map for it.

You're definitely at the mercy of RNG if you use that method to get downy/bristly crakes but if you finish all the Treasure Tips you'll probably get one during the process and that's part of the road to 100% completion anyway.

Ghillie suit, sit near a herd, wait for a bit for annoying, abrupt chirping.

They'll still get spooked if you're walking with a ghillie suit. Keep crouching and flash pods are an option if they're in a bad angle.

Do something else while waiting or swap to wildspire if something comes by.

this is how i found them, there is a specific quest in wildspire that makes it easier, cause they don't move, not sure if its the fastest way but for sure the easiest

I've tried doing that, didn't work. Anyway, I'm working on the trading quest right now. I got 1 of those 4 rare achievement creatures from it so far. But it does take pretty long. There's like 10 treasure quests for every region. I should hopefully be able to get one before I'm done with them all. I had no idea this even existed.

I just gave up on trying to hard farm them and they eventually showed up in a quest.

Don't feel down not getting them within few hours grind looking for a certain rare endemic life due to bad RNG. I spent 3 days looking for the rare endemic life in Hoarfrost even with Zoomaster + Biologist (dunno if these actually stack).
