Comfy CB Build
I would like to learn the CB next to change pace a bit, but with very little experience with the weapon, I would like to ask the good souls of this forum for a good build for beginner. Most of what I find are max deeps builds or meta stuff without the barest HB3, and I clearly am not proficient enough with the weapon to go for that kind of stuff.

Charge Blade's build preferences don't really differ much from a standard Blademaster (melee weapon) build aside from certain skills like Artillery and Focus being reasonably useful (but not mandatory).

teostra 3pc + damascus chest + garuga legs
artillery 3, focus 3, hb 3, wex 3, crit boost 3, crit eye 7, capacity boost, guard+3, fill the rest with what you want. you can fit Divine blessing 3 in this build and still probably have slots leftover.

really you can take any meta build and just swap out attack boost, peak performance, or agitator for qol skills and be good. Can get away with guard 1 for a lot of monsters once you learn to guard point as well.

Thanks. I see a lot of builds with Offensive Guard, is it worth it overall for savage axe play?

I am currently running a comfy LS build, maybe it's a good place for you to start with your comfy CB build.
NOTE: requires you to be at least MR 125 for Gold Rathian set bonus - Diving Blessing 5

Head: Rajang B+
Body: Gold Rathian B+
Arms: Ruiner Nergigante B+
Waist: Gold Rathian B+
Legs: Yian Garuga B+
Mantles: Rocksteady and Temporal

Then try to max out Health Boost, Crit skills

EDIT: You can get even more comfy if you go for x 3 Brute Tigrex set bonus for Free Meal secret :)

Offensive guard is good but you won't get use out of it until you learn to guard point consistently. I guess it might be a good motivator to learn quickly since it would be a wasted skill otherwise.

Probably not for Savage Axe because you'll be spending a lot of time outside of swordmode.

Plus, Offensive Guard on Charge Blade really mandates you learn the weapon's Guard Points system which is the most advanced aspect of Charge Blade play.

Offensive Guard is better when you learn how to use guard points. There are plenty of tutorials out there for that. In general I would advise Artillery and Capacity boost for your build since they will give you a basic PERCENTAGE bonus of extra damage as well as an extra phial. Focus is the next skill to go, followed by 3 points of Guard. Once you've learned the weapon a bit, start adding offensive guard.

The other skills you use are really up to you. Critical eye benefits the savage axe mode but your phials cannot crit. If you want to focus purely on spamming the charge blades ultimate move then invest in skills that augment your raw attack like Attack Boost and Agitator.

if you want a comfy build i suggest starting with (not really starting, but i'm assuming you've already collected some materials to build these pieces of armor)

Kaiser Crown b
Damascus mail b
Kaiser vambraces b
Kaiser Coil b
Garuga Greaves b

this gives you masters touch aswell as a good amount of decoration slots.
from there you can build up to your preferences.i suggest getting artillery to 3, focus to 3, weakness exploit to 3 and 1 magazine jewel for the extra phial.

choosing a weapon i suggest going for either the Dante CB or if you already got the mats the Rathian CB called Luna Eostre.

from there you can go with anything you like, add extra crit eye, health boost, earplugs, masterwork, agitator, it's really up to you, so is your choice of the charm.

but if you just start out with the CB i recommend going for survivabilty.you will get hit alot until you learn the guard point and once you do you can also choose to go with offensive guard.

ps.: throwing in one ironwall jewel for a level one guard is also a great help with guard point.

there ya go. Meta set works just fine for impact charge blade and serves as a solid all-arounder. You only need the Ironside Charm at 3 but honestly I just maxed it anyway because who cares?

Definitely use Damascus chest to get level 2 focus. Level 3 is definitely preferred. Focus makes charging phials way quicker and your main movie (O charge move) comes out faster.
