My god, that Shara Ishvalda fight is cancer.
Worst fight of the game so far. The quicksand is the worst. It's moveset makes me want to gouge my eyes out... then there is the insane "break the head twice to get anything but garbage drops" thing. I swear. If I could just somehow get 2 Tenderplates for my HH, I would never fight this thing again. There are harder monsters, but, none as cancerous as Shara... The only fight in the game I cringe before starting.

Just fought him for the first time myself then.

Wasn't hard... just tedious. Probably won't be going back for seconds with him.

The fact that the fight is in two stages is frustrating because the first stage is so easy it's just a waste of time and then the second stage is painful with the quicksand. His moves are easy to avoid though but it just feels like a drag.

I felt the same with Xeno... just a bit boring.

Ruiner Nergigante on the other hand I really enjoyed. Nergi is such a great fight.

But Lunastra's Nova. It is one of a few monster that I actually make a build to counter. but fire resist, windproof 5 still not enough. those wind pressure can't hit me but the fire wave still hit like a truck.

better hope you see it coming and fast enough to get out of its range. or if you fail to dodge then better stay on the ground and pray.

No need for wind resist imo. You need to learn her auras and when to flash her. Luna charges up 3 times. On the third? Gain distance, flash, and run. If with others for the love of everything warn your group before doing so. Hotkey/bind a message saying you're going to flash, or use the ping. Though tbh everyone should know her aura as well and should be keeping an eye out on where team members positions are/if they are running.

If for some reason you do get caught, superman dive asap after the first wind knockback, then once you get up immediately do it again. If you've eaten for a minimum of 20 fire resist (though if you can, slot/use Heat Guard) you'll survive her nova. As soon as you get up eat an astera jerky or a max potion.

You can just farcaster before the nova if you don't have fireproof mantle equipped, that saves the day every time for me.

Farming for tenderplates is indeed very tedious.

Farming for tenderplates is somewhat tedious (better than farming Xeno though as you can get a guarenteed 2 tenderplates per run, so at minimum 14 Shara runs is all you need to craft every single weapon from it- more than likely a couple of runs will suffice for most players) but I do like the idea of bosses having very rewarding partbreaks that you really have to go out of your way to earn. I also think Shara's moveset is pretty alright, with the only exception being some of the beams can feel weird in combination with the claw.

First phase is also way too easy though it goes by pretty fast on repeat runs. I think though my only major problem with Shara in comparison to Xeno are those absolutely BS second/third phase falling boulders.

If Shara destroys them by its own attacks, which it can very easily do because it has an arena-covering beam and beams in a wide arc, the boulders are 100% wasted even if Shara is directly under them, it only counts if you Slinger Burst Shara into the boulders. Shara is also incredibly difficult to move into a position to actually set up the burst into the boulders, and Shara is inherently hard to lure around the arena because like Xeno you have no idea if it'll just spam beams at you from afar or approach. It's so incredibly frustrating.

Personally I'm not a fan of the fight. The first phase is, as others have said, a waste of time for how easy it is. Biggest gripe for phase 1 is the lack of slinger ammo laying around aside from the base camp even though there are rocks on the ground that clearly look like they should be slinger ammo. I see this as a way they are trying to force co op by wanting you to have a weapon that makes the monster to drop slinger ammo after a clutch attack.

Phase 2 is awful.

Constant wind beam attacks make attacking the head difficult and dangerous and good luck clutch clawing it to soften it. And you have to break it twice...good luck with that. Also, apparently due to its hp, it's quite easy to kill it before you break the head twice unless that is where you are focusing most attacks which is a problem for the reasons I just stated.

The quicksand, while countered with mirewalker, is annoying to have to deal with.

I have no idea how you are supposed to lure Shara over to the wall traps before they are destroyed. Standing far away to lure it will usually just lead to wind beam spam and not Shara actually walking closer, standing close to it will probably never get it anywhere near the wall.

Somehow you get knocked off it's tail if you're doing a clutch claw attack when it starts its wind beam attack even though the tail is not a hitbox then and should NOT knock you off of it.

Its ultimate wind bomb attack is pointless IMO. Yes it's nice for clearing the sand but how do you actually get hit by this thing? It's not even aimed at the hunters, just at the middle of the room and you have plenty of time to get away from it. The only annoying thing about it is Shara can combo into a wind beam that you may not see coming.

How do you win a successful mount on this thing? Aside from a wide range person scarfing down rations or steaks that is. I would honestly like to know.

Once you begin, look to your left for the small climbable rock cliff. Lead Shara over to it so Shara destroys it, underneath is some slinger ammo.

If you are a light weapon just save the slinger thorns until second phase, and shoot them at his head (after tenderizing ofc) for a free KO and access to his 70 (78 tenderized) head. Impact mantle can accomplish this aswell. As for the traps in area 2, screw those. Better to just go ham on his arms until he topples, and with the KO damage he should be dead in no time with the plate dropping off guaranteed.

Doubt its hard, but its undoubtfully one of the worst and most time consuming crap incarnate end-game bosses ever created in-gaming history. I wasnt even shocked at its appearance change or anything, it was just an ordinary dragon covered in stones. Just thinking about fighting that thing makes me sleepy.

Bruh the fight is so quickly over tho, also you could use rocksteady mantle in the quicksand phase, just dont stand in his laser when you do
BLACKcOPstRIPPa Feb 11, 2020 @ 7:00am
He actually isn't that bad, you just have to learn his moves.

I solo'd him with DB wasn't all that bad

I struggled with soloing vaal hazak for longer than I did with him rofl
Though I don't think that's the norm?
