I recommend soloing him, and he does not require anything specific to be farmed to do so. Use the environment and flinch shot him into the mountains for incredible damage.
Start off using either a pierce bowgun or any melee weapon of your choice that doesn't do poison damage. Aim for face as much as possible, and use clutch claw to run him into the collapsable wall (you'll see on minimap)
When he reaches phase 2, use a farcaster to go back to camp, and switch to a poison weapon.
At this point you can just play chicken for the most part with him. Poison would be a 5 star weakness if the UI actually showed more than 3 stars. Just apply poison and take some pots shots on his feet, you'll eventually wear him down just with that.
He really is a joke of a fight unless you are specifically looking to break his face twice for the plate it drops, but don't worry about that until you've memorized his attack patterns and have augmented a few pieces of gear.
Fighting it without abusing that claw takes almost the whole time.
Honestly, if you can't really do it solo and don't feel like farming some proper gear then yeah expect trouble on the boss.
-Phase 1 can be quickly gotten past via the falling boulders. Flinch shots to Shara's head towards the yellowish rocks behind it when the fight starts will, up to twice, inflict massive damage and a free knockdown. This on its own takes out most of Phase 1. There are more rockfall opportunities for Phase 2/3 but these are far less reliable because Shara will often destroy them itself from its own attacks.
-Bring Farcasters so you can nope out if you're about to die or if you need a restock.
-Hind legs during Phase 2/3 are a perfectly acceptable part to focus if you're still learning the fight. Essentially ALL of Shara's attacks go from the front so as long as you are behind it or under it you're largely safe. Just go for the head or forelegs if you get a reasonable chance because those are way better for damage.
-Skills like Tremor Resistance and Mirewalker specifically can both help for the fight. Stun Resistance also obviously helps a lot like it does for essentially all hard fights.
-Use Clutch Claw to move around quickly, eg. When Shara is charging its beam, clutching the "wings" actually sends you straight to the forelegs which are safe from the attack, so a quick CC reaction can totally save you from that attack and immediately move you into damaging range.
The real challenge is getting the carvable face part off.
Overall if you're behind him he doesn't have any dangerous attack. His big bang attack is the slowest in the game, you have plenty of time to go to a corner of the arena. Same thing with his laser, it's pretty slow.
I had more trouble defeating MR teostra or vaal.
- Partbreaker +3
- Palico healing
- Mirewalker 1 (for the sand)
First phase - easy.
Second phase - clutch claw a front leg and focus until you break it, when Shara goes down clutch claw the head and hit head until Shara gets back up. Focus on the other front leg, break it and then focus on anything you want.
