Pirates going online?

I'm guessing this won't affect people negatively if true though?

steamworks fixes usually allow cracked games to connect only to other cracked games.

While I'm not fan of pirating, that alone wouldn't be cause for concern, unless the people that pirate the game go nuts and start tossing in damage increase mods and other such things that would blatantly be considered cheating.
