Pukei-pukei not in ancient forest?

Hi all,

I killed Pukei-pukei 2 times and I tried several times to go on expedition to finish the armor set from the material I get from killing it. He seems to not spawn any more in ancient forest. Is that normal?

Yes I also searched in area 6. He is not there.

How shouls I finsih an armor set if I cant grind by killing large monsters several times?

Some monster availability is tied to your current progress in the story. Just keep playing through the assigned missions and you'll see him show up again eventually.

You might also have an investigation for him if you've been picking up his tracks. Check the resource center.

Don't do an expedition. Head to the resource center and register pukei pukei investigations cause you get more rewards that way. Or look under optional quests for it. Expeditions suck because monsters can run away or randomly not spawn when you want them to.

Do the optional quest repeatedly or investigation if you have it instead

If you want to hunt a specific monster, Expeditions are not the best way to do it, you should do it by playing a quest or doing an Investigation for that monster.

Expeditions are good for freeform hunting where you want to casually kill several monsters, or when you want to do things like gather ores, consumables, ecetera, but if you want to go after a specific monster, Expeditions aren't the best way to do it, because monsters can leave if you don't kill them fast enough, and Quests/Investigations give you more rewards for completing them.

By the way, when you hover over the Ancient Forest in the map screen, you can see what monsters are currently there, so if you don't see a Pukei-Pukei, it probably just hasn't spawned.

So yeah, just replay the optional quest or do an investigation if you have it.

As a sidenote, I assume you're pretty early in the game? It kinda seems that way from the language you're using, sorry if I'm wrong in that assumption. If that IS the case, and you haven't gotten to High Rank yet, I'd advise you to not waste your time grinding out early sets like Pukei-Pukei. Simple armors like the Bone armor is plenty to get you through Low Rank, only once you get to High Rank does collecting armorsets actually start to have some serious merit and be worth the time investment.

That doesn't mean DON'T experiment with picking up any Pukei-Pukei gear you think you'll like, I'm just saying that if I'm correct in assuming you're still doing Low Rank content, you should not stress about grinding out the entire Pukei-Pukei set.
