What is the point of Energy Drink?
Anytime you fight something with Sleep, like Nightshade Poluma, Energy Drink is completely worthless.

That crap potion takes forever to drink because the hunter thinks he's some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wine connoisseur and has to appreciate the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing with every sip. So your walking there, drinking this crap, OH LOOK THE MONSTER JUST KNOCKED YOU ON YOUR ASS.

Of the maybe 10 times I've had to use this energy drink, 7 the monster just barrels into me and it's just a wasted potion.

For group play it makes sense because the team can always grab aggro. For solo, with that crap excuse for a sidekick, it's a 50/50 on rather the palico will actually get off his ass and grab aggro. Not even, more like 10/90 in the odds of a monster smashing you awake.

The most mystifying thing in this game is Capcom's decision to make the Energy Drink and Antidote take forever to consume when their relevant ailments need to be dealt with in a timely fashion.

Try using speed eating, the potion will be used very quickly and you can get back in on the fight (that, and as you said it's useful in multiplayer)

Uh restoring your stamina so you won't waste your time getting back to camp just to eat or drink a valuable dash juice?

Also sometimes when monsters put you to sleep they don't always aim at you and it could take much time until you fully wake up and if you play with randoms the chance that they will wake you up is also not always happen, there are a lot of times energy drink saved me at those moments..

It's so you can still potentially be punished for falling into Nightshade's mist and isn't just a get out of jail free card, much like Antidotes/Herbal Medicines don't ALSO cure all the damage you take from a Rathian backflip.

Pinging my Palico to come kick me is usually enough for me, never really bothered much with consumables.

How do you ping in world? I never found out honestly. Used to ping all the time in previous games.

Make herbal medicine for poison.

What's the point of binoculars? Boomarang?

Binoculars is usado for Sporting wildlife for those annoying catching quests. Boomerang kind of is a legacy item. It was more useful in the previous games when you could play as a palico.

Of course.
It's just, in the previous games Antidotes were consumed at the same speed as everything else, so why make it way slower now?

Boomerang has a VERY niche use in knocking Scatternuts off a tree with most weapon types, in case you are in some very urgent need of slinger ammo and there's nothing else around. That's literally it.

Actually, its use is more for blunt type weapon users. It deals cutting damage and so it's basically a "if you need a tail, use this" weapon since you can deal damage to a tail but that "last hit" requires cutting damage to actually remove the tail.

So a hammer user can drain the tail HP then use the boomerang to cut it off.

But since we cant tell when the damage threshold is reached because this game ♥♥♥♥♥ on any form of "damage" information regarding the monsters conditioning, it's a giant guessing game.

I'll be honest, I've never seen a tail cut happen like that, even in a video, so I have my doubts about it.

Well, you drink the Energy Drink while you are staggering around, about to fall asleep. You have enough time to do it and usually you never get hit while staggering - if you do get hit, you're immediately woken back / knocked out of sleep and thus didn't need to drink the potion anyway. There's more than enough time to chug it even with no levels in Speed Eating before passing out, too.

There's very minimal point to it, but if you don't have a good team, don't wanna slot in Sleep Res 3, or you're worried you'll be giving Nightshade Paolumu too many cheap shots, then they're worth bringing along.

Haven't tested if chugging one immediately wakes up your team mates if they're snoozing / staggering with Wide-Range though, but I assume it would.

Nope, this is a myth.

I should know, seeing as a HH user, my damage is mostly blunt, BUT I have to regularly incorporate weak severing damage attacks (pommel hits) into my moveset.

Similar logic is also why you won't see a Longsword severing Barroth's scalp anytime soon, as IIRC that reverses what tails do and can only be severed with Blunt damage.

However tail cutting is still basically impossible for me when using it. Tails only take part damage from severing weapons.
