Tips on beating hornless kirin?
I'm just struggling, not saying the fight is bs, not saying the game sucks, just saying that I'm struggling to solo the fight.

Any tips for fighting it? I run switchaxe and have level 12 namielle and velkhana switchaxes, and I could easily get savage devilijho swaxe if I wanted.

Not entirely sure what gems I have (I'll post to full list when I can if it's needed) but I know I'm running maxed out critical eye, and attack boost 4.

No augments on either swaxe
Armour is velkhana helmet and waist, blackveil chest and legs, and brachydios arms.

Edit: Killed it, thanks for all the responses!

For starters, you should use a switch axe with fire if you're running crit element.

He has no HP in that quest but the lightning is hella buffed and you don't get to abuse crutch claw flinch shots, so put on impact mantle and go to town. Or farm up health augment for any switchaxe to get a lifeline in combination with thunderproof.

Is it a damage taken issue? or a damage dealing issue.

If you slot for Paralysis Resistance and Stun Resistance, you should do totally fine against Kirin.

If you want more survivability, maybe grab Tigrex/Brute Tigrex armor for that Free Meal set bonus so you have essentially unlimited healing items? Or perhaps a couple pieces of Gold Rathian armor if you've unlocked that, for Divine Blessing level 5.

just like regular kirin, investing in thunder resistance is not a waste. Also, wear the thunderproof mantle as much as you can. If you can't evade the attacks with the regular hops of the SW, invest in evade distance.

hit and run the face. use a silver rath SA or get the gold rath SA. or just SOS and hope you get a god hbg user.

It's tough, but if you can find an opening, CC and keep it's backside tenderized (you'll see scratch marks on it's back when this happens). It's irritating because the tenderizing doesn't last long, but at least it keeps you away from it's front.

Immunity mantle, and/or 20+ Thunder def.

Also, don't panic when it does those huge AOE attacks (big waves of lightning), if you look at the ground you can find spots to stand between the lightning strikes.

Sticky it to death.

Are you deadset on SA? Kirin and Kushala are two mobs that made me turn to bow. Not because they were impossible to do with SA, but because of how long it typically took.

If you are not, a R11 fire bow, rath line prerred, is amazing. Proper decos and your looking at 150-200 damage per shot. With good aim, proper shot rotation, and an eye on stamina, you can do that damage every 3 seconds. Needless to say, Kiri-poo goes down *fast*.

It's literally just a permanently enraged Kirin, just fight it like you normally do.

get a gun and shoot the bastard till its dead, kirin was and always will be BS, only bright side is its not nearly as bad as it was in MHFU.

Use the thunderproof mantle, and dodge.
That's all that i can say, i use switchaxe too and was pretty easy

I just get its body softened then power axe it to death.
as for paralasys resistance,

immunity mantle+thunderproof mantle. You won't get paralyzed.

The immunity mantle does prevent stun, but the thunderproof does not.
