Is free element a good thing for The Grinding Mallet
Im a hammer user and i have decided on The Grinding Mallet. Prior to iceborne I never went near any element build but things have changed in iceborne.

Is free element a good thing for the previously mentioned hammer? Or is it still better to ignore it for weakness exploit?

You want Weakness Exploit regardless of anything. As for the Acid weapons, just put elementless on them for +15 raw. If you wanted a para Hammer use Viper Tobi.

Acidic Glavenus weapons aren't really ones where Free Element is something you should be interested in. Handicraft is a way bigger priority and when you're building that much Handicraft it's tough to find room to fit Free Element.

I would also say that even with Iceborne's elemental buffs, using elements on Hammer is still a bit questionable.

raw damage is still the best option with hammers.if you want status efect, go for paralysis.

Myself I have been using grinding mallet for a while it's still one of the best hammers other than shara ishvalda hammer (I can't think of the name of it ) free element is still very good the only down side to the hammer is lack of sharpness (So use 3 piece teo for master touch) good luck and use the handy craft 4 charm plus a handy craft/ vitality deco
