There's a G rank equivalent of that duo hyper metal quest, rip.

I did a custom quest with a friend at one point. Gold and silver in the small arena in FU. Only they were tiny. Like a foot high kinda tiny.

And had maxed damage. So EVERYTHING was a 1-shot.

Hell of a fight.

Is that the MR 125 one? Because I gotta say, screw that quest with all the screwing power in the world

Well yes there is a metal duo quest in IB too, but I was saying that the Hyper duo metals in Gen have an even more difficult version in GU. And the MR125 quest isn't even peak MH, they don't even spawn at the same time and it's not in the arena.

Ah right I glossed over the whole G-Rank thing.

It might not be in a tiny arena but it's that comparably small nest of Nergigante, which is kinda evil considering the space you have when fighting them pretty much everywhere else in the game lol. In my experience Silver Rathalos doesn't take long to show up once the fight starts, and then it goes downhill very rapidly..

..but I'll manage it eventually, I'm sure. Dung pods don't work, and the Challenger mantle doesn't seem to work (unless I just suck with it) so...pain.

I can't imagine what it was like back in the older games. I have friends who would rather forget it ever happened instead of telling me about it, so that's always a good sign. :steamsad:

Honestly I think Iceborne Silverlos is the best version of Rathalos ever made. Instead of spamming aerial attacks being its whole deal, it actually feels like it uses aerial attacks more appropriately and its grounded moveset is more of a threat.

I won't say the same about Rathian because I think Rathian is better-designed, but I actually really liked Goldthian too.

Maybe I just got lucky but I've had zero problems with Silver Rathalos thus far, and this is coming from someone who considered Azure Rathalos to be the literal worst fight in the game that would seemingly always faint me at least once during any quest involving it, etc. It was the only monster I didn't even feel bad about spamming flashpods on, lol.

I hate Gold Rathian more. I really dislike the nuclear fireball she does that applies rapid ticking DoT fire damage from simply standing in it. I know you can probably nullify that entirely with Fire Res 3 or maybe Heat Guard, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hurts so much. Especially when you screw up and end up getting her poison and fire on you at the same time. Goodbye health! I hardly knew ye.

What exactly don't you like about Silver Rathalos?

I would have loved a subspecies / variants for everything but I'm not gonna lie some of them feel very forced. Specifically, most of them don't feel like they were added for fun or because they were interesting, but instead to counter complaints that Water, Poison and Dragon resistance were basically irrelevant in the base game. It's nice and all...but yeah.

The only one of the bunch I mind is Ebony Odogaron though, I have to say. Fairly uninspired design and looks, and all it seemingly does it spew a bit of dragon elemental attacks in with its old movesets, as well as being very protective over its meat parcel. Meh! Regular Odogaron was always an interesting fight, but whenever I fight Ebony I just kinda get bored or annoyed with it. Not sure why.

Perhaps merely ignorance :steammocking:
nope fire 3 and heat guard won't work
that is the stupid gimmick of these two isane wyvern

Silver spawns at 10 minutes in and killing Gold with reduced HP is easily doable in 10 minutes. If they managed to gang up it's pretty grim.

I haven't gotten there yet. I remember Fire Emblem event Silverlos from Generations being pretty cancerous to my enjoyment. Are you saying that Iceborne's Silverlos is worse?

He's not as punishing in IB and doesn't keep attacking you with nukes and talon dives until your stamina is depleted, and he'll tire unlike the Hyper monsters. Breaking the head is also so much easier with clutch claw now, it's just about not getting twoshot once he's in hellfire mode.

Indeed?

I need to waste less time picking up tracks and just go straight for Gold Rathian then, next time I try. I swear it didn't FEEL like I was taking 10 minutes, it always felt like he spawned in around 20% of Gold Rathians HP.

That suddenly doesn't feel as impossible as before. Thanks for that!

Well, that sucks. At least it leaves me more freedom in whatever else I slot into my gear, though.

I didn't say that I hate him, just that this is one hell of a fight. Always a close shave and doesn't really feel like I am in control of anything. I am using bow, so one wrong step and I am totally done for. The parts I really dislike are that I feel like my arrows are like wet paper due to him having bad hitzone values (which I expected since I knew from 3U and 4U that he always was a tough nut to crack). The absolute worst however is that I CANNOT DUCKING HIT THAT DAMN HEAD. He's only attacking, never stopping so there is virtually no time to get aggressive or to even make him explode when he's red. The only thing that I can hit are his wings and since I also use stamina to attack, it's really hard to dodge everything...

This fight is just...pretty intense and a pain in the rear

i feel like you're just not managing your stamina properly if you're so drained that you can't dodge
as another bow user i've been breezing through silverlos while finishing the sets

Every bow user should be required to watch this video. Very informative and will make you better. If there is only one thing that you can only pick up from watching this, I do hope that you learn that Quick Shot does not require stamina!
