How in the dingleberry do I beat Shara Ishvalda?
This is the only monster in Iceborne so far that has carted me this many times (6 to be exact).

My most recent attempt with a full party of randoms came close, but unfortunately, spastic attack patterns were our downfall.

I'm using the right weapons upgraded as far as they can at this point, especially for Shara's weaknesses.

I would appreciate any tips or offers to help

Update: We did it!

Bringing farcasters to dodge 1 or 2 of the Spirit Bombs really helped. Also, the randoms must've been experienced, because we hovered near the rear and back of Shara and just hacked away. I brought a Poision Hammer and just whacked away till Shara dropped dead.

Crikey that was a final boss.

Shara's attacks all have very long windups but if they hit they're devastating. The easiest way to fight it is to keep the hind legs tenderized and hit them until it dies.

Shoot slinger thorns at his head in second phase, he will expose his weakspot for you to hit for massive damage. Use poison and blast for easy and fast kills, give kitty a status weapon and the horn for stun immunity and other various buffs.

There's your issue. Play alone and get good.

Hind legs are the safe but unrewarding spot to attack, as Shara has essentially 0 options for hitting anything in the rear and essentially always has to turn to face whatever it's attacking. Tenderising and focusing them is the safest way to get a kill, though go for the front legs whenever you get a good opportunity.

Shara very much forces you to get good at dodging its attacks or die, but there are a few tricks you can use:

-I'm pretty sure Aquatic/Polar mobility applies to the quicksand so a Mirewalker jewel can help a fair bit

-Wallbanging Shara correctly can be a great way to save time in the fight. In Phase 1 this is when Shara is most vunerable to this, there's a rock trap marked on the map you can wallbang Shara into twice. In Phase 2-3, there are three similar traps, but Shara can destroy these with lasers so it's largely up to luck if you'll see an opportunity to wallbang Shara into one, if you do though, take it.

-When Shara does its laser attack it loves to spam, a good option is to Clutch Claw the "wings". Doing this actually grapples you to the front legs where you'll be safe from the beam, close the distance to Shara, and will have a tenderising opportunity.

-Unlike Xeno, Shara REALLY doesn't show any signs of weakness beyond the phases advancing (phase 1 is rocks, phase 2 is emerged from rocks with eyes closed, phase 3 is eyes open) so you kind of have to trust after being in Phase 3 for 5-10 minutes that Shara is indeed close to death.

-Bring Farcasters in case you need to restock OR to pop as an emergency if you are in imminent danger. You can also use them at the beginning of the fight to get slinger ammo easily, alternatively you can get Shara to attack the mini cliffs at the start of Phase 1 to reveal the Stones for your slinger underneath.

Stay underneath, and learn the tell for when she sweeps underneath with its wings. Other than that move, you're completely safe down there.

I was trying to chop off its tail on first fight lol

I died a lot of times too. Then I channeled my inner Bard, strapped on my Healing Horn with Wide Range 5 and rocked the living crap out of that smelly Dragon. In the end I had 321 Buffs and Heals applied :) No one died.

We were in Phase 3 for a good while in the latest successful attempt. We were so close...

Mirewalker isnt needed if you are mobile class.
You just need to not be in sand during certain attacks.

I carted to him a grand total of 10 times! I fought him using all of the weapons I am comfortable with, first IG, then LS, then bow, quest failed each time. Then the third time, after seeing how disgustingly effective Bow is against him, I ran with that again, kicked its butt royally, but ended up dying to a wing swipe>laser combo. Swapped to IG after death, ate some ATK L food and finished the fight

So my tip is use a bow. Spam its face in 1st phase, then spam its wings in 2nd phase. If you stay at his hind legs and shoot up to its shoulder, you can avoid almost all attacks

I use Gunlance so it's not too hard (at least solo). Just carted twice and end up dealing like only 5% of the last damage I need with my last life.

Just wallslam when possible, put WSB in hind leg, don't linger too much below his belly (it can use its wings to attack that blindspot), run and follow his position as soon as he start sand diving, and avoid the quicksand at all cost because Shara can explode those (my second cart was because I'm too overconfident with Aquatic/Polar Mobility build).

Well, to play devils advocate, I was doing all of my fights solo, with no research, and I got REAL good at fighting it lol
