He's so aggressive and one dimensional that it's almost like a lance training mission,
"Block that" "counter attack that" " only do two attacks after that then counter again" "etc."
- Stun resistance III
- I take rocks
- I hook its head
- I push it into the wall when not enraged
- collect items on the ground and hitting him
- when enraged, I run into other monsters
Actually,Sin is right. I play both Lance and Bow. Whenever it is a new monster or I suspect that it will give me some problems as a bow user, I play lance the first time. This way it is easy to kill the monster (if you know how to play lance) while still learn the monster's movements. Such as how many times a monster does this attack, or combos, when to punish him, etc... It is important to use the Palico so that you also trigger all possible monster's attacks and watch movements at close and long distances and from different angles, plus the vigorwasp if need some healing and don't have time to sheath the weapon. You learn and you kill the monster. Also, playing lance is very fun.
I think it as if it was real life. First, I watch and learn as safest as possible, then I try to speedkill. You would be surprised how optimum this is :)
By the way, as Sin said "...only two attacks...". That is a good tip for this monster in a lot of situations.
Keep trying, Tigrex is pretty easy, but all of us have a certain monster we have problems with.
The same thing could also be applies to diablos, should be able to kill both of them under 10 min
What I sometimes do is to go into the fight without preparing so that I don't waste money or points on buffs and don't spend all my potions in a close fight... and just go in with the mindset that I'm gonna die.
That way you can see how long you can last and it forces you to learn the moves... and you can yolo spam the quest multiple times without wasting time preparing for it.
Just fought him again then, definitely use the clutch claw more if you are not getting enough openings. I've only just started Iceborne so I didn't really know the full potential of how deadly the clutch claw is but damn it makes taking out these master rank monsters way quicker. Had a much easier time on my 4th time fighting him because I could knock him into a wall and create an opening when I wanted to (i.e, once my Charge Blade phials were full).
Also really helps to focus on his moves don't get distracted by how awesome he looks when he charges directly at you hah. Also if you're not using a weapon you can block with, yeet your way out of there when he's in rage mode if you're still unfamiliar with his multi-chained charge/yolo attack that ends with a spin. He does that a lot when mad and faster than normal too.
Use Thunder.
