How do I get the slinger?

Hold left trigger and press attack to throw rocks or whatever else you have equipped in that slot. Note: make sure your weapon is sheathed.

Yup, you always have the slinger (on your left arm) from the start of the game. You can load it with various things. Some examples are: Stones, Redpit, Brightmoss, Flash Pods, etc. You need to sheathe your weapon first before you can aim with the slinger, using Left Trigger.

You already have the slinger from the start.
You load it using items you find throughout the map using the gathering button or items in your inventory, like the net and flash pods, as well as throwing knives, etc.

Ok, so I select the item in my item inventory and load it?

it's a little weird because some ammo you just pick up from the ground and some you load from your inventory. The thing that I didn't understand was if you load ammo it replaces what you had previously loaded.

If it's items from the world you just use the gathering button to pick it up and it will automatically load that item.

If you want to load from your inventory you have to find it, and then use the same button that will let you drink a potion to load it.
