Monsters Leaving The locale seems like a really annoying mechanic
I would like to say that I am having a great time with the game other than this mechanic.

I was just in the middle of hunting a legiana and was about to finish it, Then I get a notification that it's gonna leave the area right before I can kill it. Then it flies off and comes back a little bit later on full health. It seems really stupid to me that after all the damage I did it can just fly off into nowhere and come back on full HP

The reason I don't like it is not so much the aspect of them leaving as a whole, because i can understand that, but what i don't like is being in the middle of a fight with it for like fifteen or twenty minutes and then it just flies off before the killing blow can happen. Its just extremely annoying.

I don't really see a purpose in hunting monsters in an expedition..

There isnt any purpose to expeditions outside of story requirements. Kind of defeats the point of having it available.

Expeditions are not for hunting monsters, you have infinite lives and no time limit. If they let you hunt as you please there'd be no point in the quests, would there?
The opposite is also true. What's the point of expeditions as long as investigations are better since monsters wont leave?

Early on in the game expeditions are the only way to fight certain monsters like Rathelos or Rathian. Or they would be, if they didnt leave mid way. As a result you have to go into investigations of other monsters to beat them within the time limit.

Why not just let us hunt those monsters on their own?

Stop hunting monsters in expeditions. Use investigations or optionals. Expeditions arent really for hunting monsters.

Wrong, Expeditions are great for farming and practisch.

They're also great if your higher ranks and good geared, your able to take these mons out with ease....

TBF, The only time you should have problems with mons is when your absolutely low rank and trying to kill that rathian you saw when you where making way to the wildspire.

Didn't attempt it cause I didn't know if the Carriage would be attacked sooner or later, the thought had crossed my mind though.

Eh, too late for that now.

I killed Rathian very early on. (not long after that getting into the wastes, in fact)

However in order to do that I had to jump into an investigation that had one, as otherwise it would always leave. To be fair, that was before I knew about trapping, as I did get it to critical healh twice.

Still, the reason why its almost impossible do those monsters early on is because they leave after a relatively short time, and at that point you simply dont have the damage output to do it faster.

Ofcourse I was low rank. That's the entire point isnt it? To kill monsters as soon as you can, not wait untill you outgear them. As part of the challenge. I mean the game is ment to be challenging, right?

No they are not. You get far less loot from them in an expedition since there are no quest rewards. The fact that you would suggest killing them an expedition when its the same monster as the investigation, but with a chance to leave, and gives 4-6 less items, really makes me question the value of your opinions..

Or as you put it: ''wrong''.

About the only reason I've found to hunt in expeditions are to learn a monster so you don't **** up a quest, or to hunt a Rathian in wildspire wastes early if you're a charge blade user, because you can build the Dear Lutemis before Anjanath.

I was hunting the various monsters in expeditions before I was given quests for them. Which was nice, as it was letting me make gear before I should technically have it. :p

Use Investigations, not expeditions or optional quests
Chippawaffen 2018 年 8 月 23 日 下午 5:09
Tbh I didn't read anyone comments, but expeditions aren't for hunting really. They are for investigations, tons of tracks, gahtering supplies, and hunting monster earlier. It's true value rotating through monsters and farm mats(I never noticed the map tells you when mats respawn till on the pc). That is why they leave and also you get less parts. You can learn the mons move set, routes and see how you gear fairs against them without having to worry about 3 carts

Technically you could farm los armor before doing really any quests and breeze through lowrank. they let them leave to balance it out, but also give you a chance if you reaaaalllyyy want to grind it early.

people get so fixated on expedition hunting like...you get maybe 3-5 items from each monster in rewards it isn't that great.

If you still have issues just think 4 people on expedition with Fortify buffs for days just spanking everything with no limit would need balancing right?
