How can I join someone's expedition?

My wife and I are trying to farm those pukei pukei's for armor (we are both low level atm), and I'm trying to join her expedition. However, I'm not sure how.

I know if she launches an SOS flare, I can join her that way (excluding the exp connectivity issues), but is there an easier way? Is there a way I can just join her expedition while she is on it, or possibly depart together?

Honestly, for a MP game, the MP aspect is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clunky

This is not going to be ideal, but it's the best I've got after a quick thought.

Have her copy and paste her session ID to you over steam or something while she's in Astera. Go to a board, search for online sessions by ID. Enter her ID that she gave you. Then go on an investigation together preferably one in the Ancient Forest, and even better if it's for Pukei Pukei. At the end of the quest, select return to camp together and now you're on an expedition. On top of that another Pukei may very well have spawned.

Wow that is a lot to go through just to play this game together. Way to go Capcom, really nailed it there.

yep, the servers are down right now, you are gonna need to try later
but you should be able to join her sos flare

Also, don't farm monsters in Expeditions. They don't always spawn, and when they do they're liable to leave the map before you can kill them.

Instead farm Investigations.

servers are messed up atm. or were a bit ago at least.
but u can join each others session and go to gathering hub and at the bow"front" of the ship u can start expeditions like quests. also if u are in same session u should be able to see it in available.... though they might need to send a SOS up for that to happen, havent tested it a ton.

When giving help it makes no sense to make an assumption that they are part way. I gave it from a point of them being utterly separated. If some steps are invalid, I have the utmost faith he can nix the bits that don't apply to his situation.

No he doesn't need to start an investigation with her, they can skip that step and immeditly go into an expedition if thats what they want to do. Having them do an investigation together to do that is a needlesly extra step.
