Tips for fighting pink rathian with longsword?
I've tried 5 quests to beat him and I got close to killing him on my 3rd quest retry. I get my health and stamina to max. I mix and match my combo's keep my gauge at red, and do helm breaker when hes down. I've been getting real unlucky with this fight. I've gotten stunned, roared then flying upward tail swiped, charging back and forthm even though I side rolled out of the way.

What you all recommend in doing? I'm using Wyvern Blade "verde" and a mix of chainmail beta and hunters beta. I havn't had much trouble with the other flying wyverns unless they are grouped together, but thats what dung pods are for.

-make sure to use flashbugs, and run away to craft more if you run out and shes raging

-chainmail? idk if that's a good idea. i grab rathian armor for hp buff, and build the rest to counter either poison or stun, maybe earplugs to prevent roar flinching.

-weapon uses an element she is weak against (DRAGON/THUNDER), perhaps ensuring it is the highest tier you can reach as well

-she is weak to stun, so switching ammo or weapons to promote stun is an option for more memes

-stall for time when she's in ragemode. it drags out the fight and risks her leaving the area, but well.. do you really want to get trampled again, those turn 'n charge attacks are annoying af

I use the Longsword, and my strategy was to hit him till he dies.

tons of flash bomb my friend, basic 3 on the sling, then carry 10 flash bugs, that should be enough

Just like every other fight, hit and don't get hit it's an art 😆

Make sure to use Foresight Slash as much as possible, as it allows you to avoid attacks.

Also, crafting and using stun resist equipment is just great in general.

Helmbreaker is also a waste of damage when a monster is down. Better to just combo main attack and spirit attacks, much faster dps.

Best longsword for Rathian is a bow.

focus on cutting the tail. the pink rathian is armored in different spots, so you actually have to hit the spiky tip of the tail. also, don't focus on just doing long combos unless there's a big opening.

i used the rathian alpha armor and the rathian long sword to do poison damage (the skills on the armor buff poison)

Yeah as a Longsword user I tend to build an evade build to take advantage of the mobility it offers. As everyone else stated Flash Bombs are your best friend.

Foresight slash the entire world.

First off DID YOU JUST ASSUME RATHIAN'S GENDER!? HOW DARE YOU!!!

All jokes aside here's my awesome guide to understanding how to defeat Rathian by understanding Rathian.

Pink Rathian is a subspecies. In Monster Hunters that means they are reskins with new moves and FAR more aggressive. Her universal weakness is her face and only her fleshy parts are open for blades(face, wings, bottom of the tip of the tail and bottom of her feet). You must first understand her moveset in which I will use artifical names elitist will attack me on my steam profile over.

-Triple Charge
This move is fairly simply but very easy to be punished by. She starts this move by looking directly at her target and growling. She then charges directly at them, pauses and repeats 2 more times. Always assume after a charge she will do it 2 more times and stay on the defensive. Her tail and wings is wide open at this point and legs for other weapons.

-Charge Cancel(enraged only)
She charges at you then cancels it into ether a Fire Ball, Triple Fireball or a Backflip. All the more reason to stick to her side.

-Backstep
Backsteps with her wings to create a vast distance. Usually does this if the play is attacking her tail when shes enraged. If she does this immediately go on the defense and wait for her next move. She 100% always gets aggressive after doing this.

-Backflip
She starts this by moving one leg backwards. It's fairly obvious after you've been poisoned 1000x. All seriousness it really becomes her most obvious move. It will poison you if you Tackle it with GS as well.

-Sweeping Backflip
This is the big bad move that hurties the hunters. She does this at any time possible and it looks the same as backflip BUT her tail drags along the ground in a single direction. I suggest rolling towards her legs when she does this as it doesn't hit under her but around her. This move becomes impossible to hit you with when your on the ground when you chop her tail off. For LS users this is the tastiest parry bait.

-Hover(enraged and low HP only)
Me and my friends call it this because both her and the Los do it. They hover after a aerial attack and only sometimes to they land. be very wary of this as she likes to suddenly go for another backflip. If she turns to you while Hovering she is going to attack.

-Stomp
She jumps and then lands. Once you learn the timing its very very easy to Perfect Dodge and get free hits. Also master bait for LS parry, Great Sword Tackle, CB guard Point>SAED and Golf Swing on face or legs for hammer.

-Dive
When flying sometimes she will dive at you. Don't panic the tracking and damage on this is horrible. try not to get hit but if you don't don't worry it has a long recovery and you can safely get out of it rather you get hit or block it.

-Some dumb talon move
Listing because I can. Hard to dodge, does like no damage. Like most people who play Susano'o and spam 6B, she does nothing with it. It's fairly fast recovery so do not heal after she does this unless you see her start to land as she can backflip after wards(enrage only) or dive. On hit she will always miss her next move since you can quick recover from the hit by pressing dodge immediately. Or if your getting jumped you can stay down.

-Fire ball
Most obvious move in the game. Good for catching people in chaos or reloading but elsewise she leaves herself so open she might as well Jessica Price's search options for a new job. Feel free to get abit greedy when you see this as it has a very long recovery.

-Triple Fireball
Actually quite dangerous because for whatever reason her head has a hitbox that can knock you into a fireball. She fires Center>Right>Left(her side not yours) every time. Looking at her its Center>Left>Right). So dodge every fireball to the right and you'll avoid this move. Less recovery than normal fireball but just as open if you avoid the first one.

-Super Fireball
She charges up a hogspit that not even Llamas would do. This fireball HURTS. Just move to the side and get closer. It has a large explosion range for a projectile and you can't quick recover. Followed by the long recovery this is a notorious move for setting up Executions against Gunners and players who like to sharpen while shes looking at them.

My suggestion vs the Pink Rathian is to avoid being directly in front of her at ALL costs. Her moves are easy to see when shes turning and some of them are faster when she doesn't have a turning animation. Be on the side or underher. For gunners I suggest staying pretty close to avoid being combo'd when hit by the later end of any of her attacks. Maybe I should write a guide on steam

Thanks for the tips everyone I beat it now took me 2 more tries. Tried the flashbugs, and forsight slashing when it wasn't a huge overlaying attack.

Alright. Shame I took so long writing all that but you can use it for future encounters. Goodluck o/

No it was great reading what the move sets were for it. I saw majority of the moves, but I had real bad luck with the whole encounter. Didn't know that you could avoid that black flip tail swipe.
