So yes it should be toned down a few levels, sometimes appearances are fine, but appearances spot on almost 100% takes the fun away when am fighting.
Now with that said, I think capcom wanted this to happen to give some use to the dung pods xd.
In Mp the game is easy... 10 min /15 min x monster with randoms
IF you dont have flash bombs /Dungs bombs/ Mega potions / traps you shouldnt be hunting anything in Mp
*insert clippy here* Did you mean "I love when there are more targets to hit"?
Seriously though, you said it yourself, the problem isn't the multiple monsters, it's "nobody had dung" and nobody was smart enough to go GET dung. Monsters in combat with each other are not in combat with you. You can warp back to camp, get dung, and return while they fight, and injure each other. Then when you come back, you dung the one you don't want dead... (hint, you want them ALL dead, every time, every time, or captured) ... and go to town on the other.
Annnd there's your problem. There's nothing stopping you or a party member going back to camp to get dung if you don't like fighting multiple monsters at once.
Even then though, this might just be me, but I love it when monsters start brawling with each other. Spectacle aside, if you learn to use it to your advantage it's a viable and fun way to hunt. Devilijo especially (and ESPECIALLY when fighting fanged wyverns like Tobi) can be used to great effect to deal massive damage to the monster in question. (same applies to Bazel, to a lesser extent)
As a sidenote, if you're struggling with dealing with a bunch of monsters at the same time, I recommend focusing on getting mounts off when monsters start brawling each other. It's generally a bit easier to do now that the monster's partially distracted, once you're mounted you're invincible to everything except status effects, and once the monster gets downed, you can put its wriggling body between you and the still-standing monster, to get free DPS in relative safety with a new pickle/pinecone-shaped helper to add to the damage.
come on people 10 should be slotted on every hunt.
It actually gives you extra dps if you do it right.

You can also toss a dung pod.
Seriously tho...if u would use the game mechanics offered to u for exactly those situations and then wonder why it doesnt work out like u imagined, maybe, just maybe u did something wrong and its not the game.
In 30 minutes u could have colleclted 50 times dung, went a 100 times back to camp and get some from storage or just alltogether slay the deviljho and then the kadachi.
it's like I have my own smash bros.
