Bazelgeuse - Worst monster in the series?
I hate this monster. With the passion of a thousand blazing suns.

1) If you're not ranged or dual swords with a good evasion window, it's damn near impossible to get in range

2) Dungbomb don't work on him half the time.

3) Tracks dat Hunter ass from here back to the Old World

4) Cluster bombs are too frequent

Thoughts?

What monster do you think is the worst in the roster?

Nah, Bazelgeuse is great. The idea of the scale bombs might make it one of the most unique monsters in MH history, and his personality is incredible. (the scale bombs aren't unfair BTW, you can get rid of them by staggering/mounting Bazel and Bazel's attacks all leave large windows to punish)

I think the fact many players COMPLAINED when he turned out to not be an invader in Iceborne speaks to how much many of us love the B-52, even if he is hellbent on ruining all our hunts.

Even if you personally dislike Bazel, "worst monster in the SERIES" is a very, very difficult title to take away from Plesioth.

In terms of the roster of World, I will have to say Jyuratodus.

  • Incredibly easy. I understand the pre-Anjanath fights are supposed to be easy fights, but Great Jagras, Kulu, Barroth and Tobi are all better fights than Jyuratodus. I still remember one of my friend's reactions to Jyuratodus, a guy new to MH who wasn't particularly good, as being "...That was it?"

  • To elaborate, Jyuratodus spends about as much time attacking you as he does flopping around on the floor and trying (mostly failing) to cover himself in mud. Out of all the attacks he does have, almost all of them deal such little damage (even with gear scaled for the fight) that they aren't any threat at all

  • Jyuratodus' one slightly threatening move, when it swims underground and dives out, needs to be countered with the incredibly advanced strategy of casually walking in a consistent direction

  • Jyuratodus pretty much stays in the same flat, boring zone for the entire fight and almost never leaves

  • Jyuratodus' ecology is awful. I like the concept of a low-tier monster being a rival to Barroth, but Jyuratodus is literally just "angry fish who wants you to get out of his swamp" and isn't even remotely interesting or cool

  • Jyuratodus is basegame World's only thing even approaching an actual water monster, making its badness even more of a crime

  • Jyuratodus is shaping up to be the only monster that won't be in Iceborne's Guiding Lands, which I think speaks volumes about how much nobody cares about it. Even Lavasioth made it in

I think a lot of people don't see how bad Jyuratodus is because gamers have a tendency to recognise fights unfair towards them but typically ignore fights unfairly stacked in their own favor- Like how Bed of Chaos (Dark Souls) gets referenced all the time as a horrible fight, but Pinwheel is barely ever mentioned by anyone.

Why do people always say fighting Bagel with melee weapons i hard? Its really easy if you just dont mindlessly attack him like a braindead monkey.
For most hated monsters unless they toned him down in IB its gotta be Mega Ultra Chicken:karnauh:
That hyper aggressive cross between a Rathian and a Zelda chicken is literally the worst and most annoying monster in all of MH.

Bazel with melee isn't hard, it's just a test of patience. He spams his face charge way too much for my tastes, and when he's all glowy you basically have to just wait it out unless you want to risk getting blown up by a random bomb drop. Bazel with melee is trash.

Its not even about mindlessly attacking him. Sometimes a scale will be just off screen and pop you. Sometimes you get trapped along the wall and die because a scale drops on you. Get close when he is enraged and get caught a roar? Scale can drop and kill you.

He isn't the worst by any means, but he is very frustrating to fight sometimes.

Both the wall and roar death can be avoided by guess what "being careful" And if you die to a single scale you need better armor. And if youre complaining about that pretty much any monsters can catch you against a wall and oh boy theres monsters like Teo and Rathalos who outright attack you while youre still stunned by a roar.

Accidents happen. When you are trying to damage stuff and miss a roll, or forget what set you have on. Nobody is perfect. And no, a single scale from tempered stuff just actually does stupid amounts of damage. Not to mention you can't stop being pinned against wall when someone knocks him over and pins you there. ♥♥♥♥ happens.

Wrong place at the worst possible moment has killed many a hunter. F to pay respects.

That was quite the breakdown. Perhaps they just wanted a monster to make the player feel empowered, as opposed to getting wall checked by a feisty Rajang.

Honestly, he's definitely not one of my favorites and lists high up there as worst. Yet, the Bagel still takes the lead as far as annoying attack patterns and unpredictability (I see your side though, it does make for an interesting fight).

Thank you for your response!

Nah, jho is easy to hit. He just doesn't have good hitzones where you are frequently able to hit. But he doesn't lay mines everywhere.

Lol Lunastra took the cake for me and also Lavasioth (♥♥♥♥ that hardening skin), Bazel is sometimes a bro for me because he gives much dmg to monsters i hunt..

Not gonna lie: I think Bazel is one of the best additions to the series. Worst is Jyura.

Didnt they drop lagiacrus for jyura too?
Makes the it even worse tbh

lol dung spamming bazel. It's a ♥♥♥♥♥. Let it interrupt your fight for a minute and it'll get scared and fly away after getting smacked just a little bit. They're obnoxious but stupid predictable. Big fat weak point of a head that they conveniently use for all their attacks so you can just lead them into ez power attacks.
