What should I farm for?
I stopped playing before any of the dlc (Arch tempered, Lunastra, Behemoth, Kulve Taroth), so what exactly should I be doing to catch up? What monsters should I kill to get what gear and in what order, etc. (e.g. kill teostra to get his armor to kill lunastra to then kill arch tempered teostra, etc.)

Thanks

Edit: I should've stated my other info. I'm currently HR 76, I have most elder dragon armor sets, and can craft elder dragon weapons

If you want end game DLC armor, go for Behemoth armor. Basically what you will need if you just want "muh deepee as"

Depends your HR. If you stick with one weapon type and skillset, a single armor set can carry you through a large portion of the game. I've been using Nergigante armor all the way to Kulve Taroth.

I'm a very min max kind of guy so I made alot of sets and tend to try to get everything I can, but I'll take your advice and probably just use what I got, thanks

Look up the gear and decide for yourself, it depends entirely on what weapons you use. Every elder has a few useful parts, some more situational than others. Generally speaking the Behemoth armor is by far the most commonly useful (and you don't even have to kill it to get the materials), if you use bowguns then AT Xeno is a no-brainer and farming KT for a while will give you a lot of overpowered weapons (it's also the only way to get good gunlances). I'd say those three should be your highest priority.
But if you have the time you might as well just farm everything.

Either Behemoth or Arch-Tempered monsters are pretty important for their equipment. The highlights include:

  • Behemoth's Drachen set is just insane

  • Teostra's Gamma helm, gloves and legs are a great alternative to Drachen that provides Crit Eye 7 and Master's Touch without quite as much investment as Drachen

  • Alternatively, if you're a gunner you want to gun (budumtish) for Arch-Tempered Xeno'Jiiva, as it's Gamma armorset provides Spare Shot while actually being a really good armorset instead of the burden that basegame Xeno's armor is. Gamma Xeno armor is essentially Gunner's Drachen equivalent

  • Lunastra's Gamma equipment provides some great way to get certain skills like Health Boost or Wide Range efficiently, much like standard Lunastra

  • Speaking of, standard Lunastra's got some great equipment as well, especially the weapons. She has three fully upgraded weapons that not only have solid Affinity, damage and Sharpness but also provide either Guts, Hasten Recovery (the nergigante set bonus), or Razor Sharp/Spare Shot simply on the weapon

  • Arch-Tempered Nergigante's armorset is also quite good, they provide a crazy number of decoration slots along with the solid damage skills that Nergigante is known for

  • Kulve Taroth's armorset isn't great as a set but individual pieces can be quite nice, the Gamma coil is good enough to be considered part of the armor meta and the Gamma boots are considered excellent for fighting Arch-Tempered Xeno'Jiiva because it's skill-efficient and packs in Heat Guard

  • Of course, the main thing with Kulve Taroth are her 300+ RNG-based weapons. Kulve farming has died down since we're waiting for Iceborne, but if you're dedicated enough to farm and can find a team to help you, many of Kulve's weapons are still the best in their respective weapon categories, and Capcom's developers have stated that our Kulve Taroth farming will not go to waste and we should "hang on to our weapons", though we're still waiting to see exactly what that means.

  • The Leshen stuff with the Witcher crossover is not particularly meta, but the equipment is far from bad, and it doesn't just make for a unique experience but the sidequests are also very much worth doing. One rewards you with a guarenteed Attack Jewel and the other allows those Gajalaka shelling events that rarely happen in the Elder's Recess to happen absolutely anywhere and far more frequently, which is actually a very useful permanent bonus.

  • Besides all that, every Arch-Tempered except Lunastra and Nergi have a Layered armorset associated with them (luna and nergi's were console exclusives because they were SFV crossovers, sadly), there are numerous Layered armorpieces and sets associated with other event quests like the layered Wiggler Head, and there's even a few other goodies like the Assassin's Creed mantle. You can look up a full Event Quest guide to see absolutely everything you'll want to look into when the Harvest Festival (hopefully) comes around later next month.

Well, it's a bit too late to plant most Fall veggies. May have to wait until you can start Spring crops.

I will say, that Monster Hunter has always been about goals you set yourself. Main quests only last so long. So, if you think something looks cool or want a set for every bowgun, then go for it.
