Constant game crashes
Hello friendos, I was able to play the first two hours without a single crash. But now it's been crashing constantly and is unplayable for me and I'm so mad bc I loved what i played initially.
I have a GTX 1080 with an i7. I've verified the game files, I've uninstalled and reinstalled.

Same here. Constant crash within a few minutes of startup.

I have something rather similar. After say an hour or three of gameplay, my game will crash and close immediately upon entering a new area. When this happens, I am limited to a certain area of the game. Trying to enter anywhere new will result in a crash and close to desktop. My only workaround was uninstalling and reinstalling so that I could get an extra hour or so of gameplay. Why it does this is beyond me.

Ok, an update. I tried verifing the game files instead of waiting for an hour or so long download. Very similar results except for two things: One, I was in the middle of a dialog with a character, two, when it crashed, it caused a whole on crash, forcing a PC reboot. The interesting thing about that was it mentioned an error code about Memory Management.

oh and also did a driver update, don't know if it helped but I was throwing everything at the wall to see if it would stick

the AI is TOTAL ♥♥♥♥, upgrading is meaningless and looting is 90% meaningless. This game is complete trash other than the writing, which is just ok. Reading any sort of novel is better than this game.

Same problem...solved with this solution: "drop the frame rate to 120fps."

Windows 10, RTX 2070, Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB RAM, SSD, not even a flicker, aside companions walking without moving their legs, game is perfectly stable.
Maybe you should publish your gear, maybe you should write a bug report.

UPDATE - FIXED (mostly) - I get random crashes but its no where near before.

I did a clean reinstallation of my GPU driver
Link: https://www.geforce.com/drivers
If that fails, try launching while in clean boot mode
Link on how to do that: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

If it works then there may be a software that conflicts with the game. You can disable said software to launch on start up to avoid The Outer Worlds crashing.

Hope this helps!

Same problem. Seeing a ton of nvidia kernel errors in event viewer when it crashes, so it definitely seems driver related. Tried the most current driver version, as well as the 3 versions before current. The issue is noticeably worse on the newest version of the driver, but present on all 4. Going to try a much older version and report back.

Was getting lockups during the startup logo but those seem to have stopped. Still getting random crashes during game play but not very often.

Update: Not getting anymore crashes. Using the latest Nvidia version 457.09
