This game was amazing and fun for years. Unfortunately, for some unknown reason, I have been unable to get it to work with my computer. Nothing I have tried fixes the issue. It consistently crashes after a few minutes at the main menu screen. If they would fix that issue, I would highly recommend the game.

This game is fun at its core but managing the sectors and fleets is so tedious. I often forget about fleets that haven't moved. The UI is missing a lot of polish and could easily be addressed through some hot fixes or patches. The devs seemed not to care or their leaders didn't care and pressured them to release this out the door. It didn't bother me too much the first 20 turns, but by turn 70 I was over it. The way the invasions happen and the notification are awful. The sector will flash red when an enemy faction is about to attack an enemy faction (I don't care, this is a good thing) but it won't flash red when Tyranids are 1 turn away from invading my vulnerable sectors. Just awful. Again, managing your fleets is the worst. Transferring ships is a chore. Building new fleets is a chore. Recruiting new ships when your level cap goes up is a chore. The descriptions for the planets are poorly written. They didn't use consistent phrases when describing if the buff is a local buff or a global buff. E.g. a leader buff gives makes recruitment at level 2 (instead of just saying "+1 to recruitment level") where as the Iron Hands planet gives a +2 buff to recruitment level. A summary for the benefits of each sector could easily be displayed at the galactic map so you can see which sectors give which buffs to recruitment but they lazily decided not to do that. Just tons of quality of life improvements could be added to help the player focus on battles and not micro-managing your planets and ships. This game play similarly to Create Assemblies Total War Warhammer turn based games and in that franchise (also in Civilization turn based games) lthey created a notification system to let you know "this fleet hasn't moved yet" or "this admiral has been promoted, spend their level points". Also the individual ship view is annoying when you're updating the preset orders for multiple ships. It takes awhile to load each ship visually as you have to click on one at a time to preset their orders. This was MUCH easier in the first game, I don't know why they made this worse.

This game is good, but it definitely screams for a sequel. Sequel that would fullfill the immense potential this premises has. So while I can still recommend this game, especially for low price it goes these days, I can't but wish for a sequel with bigger star map allowing to build more structures, with captains having their RPG skill tree, allowing for TRUE coop meaning the joining player would get his subfaction to command and myriad other such improvements.

So yes, get this game if you love WH40K and its space combat. Just don't expect it to be perfect.
