Not being able to Co-op

I'm trying to play with a friend and for some reason I am never able to summon them. They can summon me though, we do live together which may be the cause but I'm not sure why it would be one sided. (Were both the same level)

Any Opinions?

To make sure; Your certain you are "Human" (Your numbers @ the top-left are white) before trying to summon them? And you don't have your own Summon Sign down whilst looking for theirs?

I can coop with other player in same room, so that should not be the issue.

Does one of you have an in-game name that is too long? Can't remember the char limit for names, but if too long it will cause your sign not to be seen (but perhaps not stop you from summoning?)

Know that some in-game areas do not have coop.
Also, If the boss is already dead in your world you cannot summon someone to your world in that area... et cetera, Look this up many other possible details...

I'm having the same problem, me and my friend used to play a lot of dark souls back in the day, so we have a lot of experience with the connection, soul memory, lvl and upgrade lvl's, but after the servers gone down that period, and then came back up we haven't been able to connect to each other ever since, the signs on the ground don't appear anymore, our connection were never the best with eachother even though we live in the same city, but we can connect in other games like wildlands and farcry 5, etc, however, we've been through ds2, ds2 softs and ds3, and we just can't connect with each other, only in elden ring, so there must be something with the new netcode from older games that is causing these problems.

i had to cut my name down, i think it's a limit of 12 letters/numbers for how long your name can be

and for the record everyone this is your STEAM name, the visible one not your url

this is leftover from when it displayed your steam name to people when you got summoned, its not that way now though
