How to summon or join your friends game for stupid people

Hello I am a stupid person, but figured out how to join someones private darksouls game.
I will share this info with my fellow stupid people.
How you might ask? Please help you cry!
Do not worry, i will keep it simple.

Thanks to people who posted other tips i will add them into this guide.


Item used: White summon Soapstone, located in your inventory after you meet Solaire of Astora, on that bridge with the red dragon, directly after the Taures demon to the right hand side.

Important things to know:
To be able to summon someone to your world the current area boss must be undefeated.
The person who is summoning their friend must not have a sign of their own down or they will not see it.
The person who wants to summon friend to their world must not be hollow.
You can not see sign of a player whos STEAM NICKNAME is bigger then 15 symbols.


Step One: Go into Network settings and turn Global On and summon sign to unrestricted. Both players do this. Can be found by pausing in game.

Step Two: Both players must have the SAME password entered into their network settings This can be found by pausing while in game.
Setting a password removes all level restrictions meaning you can join or summon your friend at any level.

Step Three: Make sure you are not hollow if you are the one summoning. Use humanity before you summon or else it will not work!!!!!!!!!

Step Four: The person who wants to be summoned to the other players world, places their sign down using the WHITE SIGN SOAPSTONE item. The person being summoned can be hollow.

Step Five: Player who is waiting for help spots their friends summon, and summons their friend.

Other things:

Dried finger, what it does and where to get it: The Dried Finger item allows you to summon up to 3 friendly players, it also allows two enemy players to invade at the same time, with a max of 6 players in the world of the person who used the dried finger.
Sold by the Undead Male Merchant in the Undead Burg. Uses unlimited.

Another reminder to summon you must not be hollow!

Be patient, sometimes you see the sign instantly, other times it might take a few seconds.

And there you have it, you should be able to darksouls online now.

Important note!:
You can not see sign of a player whos STEAM NICKNAME is bigger then 15 symbols, it is a limitation coming from the games for windows live version, so if that is so, you need to change your name in steam profile and restart a game.

Also, unrestricted means you can play with randoms from all server regions and has no bearing on this, and the dried finger is used to summon another player on top of the max but also increases the probability of being invaded and number of invaders that can appear.
