Vagrant Enemy
I ran across a page about these on the Wiki and I've never seen one. Supposedly they spawn from bloodstains.

Anyone ever actually see one?

Here's a link to the wiki page for those curious.

Saw one in the church the other day. I thought it was punishment because it was right after I relogged when I alt+f4'd out of the game because I accidentally summoned a guy and didn't actually want to kill the boss yet.

i've seen three of them, one a year ago when i first played the game, it was in the "tomb of giants". two most recently, replaying the game with a friend, one in "sen's fortress", which disappear before I could kill it, and another also in the "tomb of giants".
My friend also saw one in "Anor Londo"

Yeah, I've seen them in both PtDE and Remastered. Not often, they tend to be rare, but they do show up. And they can hit surprisingly hard if you aren't careful.

Pick a spot like the walkway with archers in Anor Londo, use 5+ humanity items, make a backup save file on your desktop, die 2x(first where you want vagrant, second time can be done by gravity near the bonfire), switch out to the backup save file and repeat.

IDK if it still works but that's how I have seen them made before to troll. How much of a troll is it tho when you consider the save was with 99 humanity every time? I never found out if that effects how much the SOB drops when killed.

yes. these are essentially the replacement of world tendency and primeval demons in demon's souls. They are not that "rare". They come in multiple colors, but contrary to the wiki do not have a 100% drop rate of anything.

Pretty sure theyre from when an online player with many souls/humanity dies.

I usually play offline. Is that why I've never seen one of these guys? Even when I was playing the original I never saw one.

Yes, that's why. The Vagrants are an online feature.

Having played within the last two weeks, I have seen at least three hostile Vagrants (i. e. those spawned from a player permanently losing 5 or more humanity in their bloodstain). I encountered one in the Undead Parish, one in Sen's Fortress and one in the Crystal Cave. I have also encountered at least two drift item bags (items left behind by other players, which are then sent to another player's world).
However, in my hundreds of hours of playtime across both versions of the game I have not once seen a friendly Vagrant, which are supposedly spawned from the aforementioned drift item bags after having travelled to a certain amount of worlds.

The hostile (red) Vagrants are less rare because they're easier to create even on accident. They're created from bloodstains with a lot of souls being lost. Whereas the non-hostile (white) Vagrants are created from drift bags. When a drift bag goes through enough worlds without being picked up they'll spawn a white Vagrant in the next world. Most uninformed players will avoid drift bags because tbh an item appearing out of nowhere is very suss and I don't blame them for thinking "a 'hacker' put it in my world" and not touching it.

After many months/year+ in-game with PTDE I did not see a 'vagrant' but with Remaster installed I started to see them and was all of a sudden WTF!!! Remaster fixed many things, and while it was overall poor as far as remasters go, it was only way forward if DS1 was to get more/new players. Just IMHO...

DS1 remaster is certainly worth new player investment, especially those who started with ER or DS3....

I agree. The fact I didn't have to mess with DS fix when I got a new computer was enough for me. It just feels like the more convenient version of the game.

Not having frame rate issues in Blighttown is nice too.

Finally saw one on the buttress between the Silver Knight snipers. His collision box almost killed me lol.

I've seen three of them, all in the Duke's Archives. Probably not a coincidence.
