How Much Does/Did Steve Feak or Ice Frog Make From DOTA/DOTA2?
I am very curious about this, and I don't know where to start looking or how.

I played DOTA Allstars , and before that ( i think) in W3. I never played it constantly, but I never knew that when I played that many years ago it would evolve into the biggest competitive and popular video game.. and its OWN video game. I never have heard anything close to 2.5 MILLION as a first place prize for any other video game tournament. The biggest I knew about was a Halo contract for 1 Million.

So what I am wondering is... is there a history of Dota that I could read, such as a timeline? and who is the ORIGINAL creator(s) , did they have any idea that DoTA would be made into DOTA 2 as a standalone game? And considering the fact that DOTA 2 is a game played by millions? and WATCHED by millions, even being played in sports bars in the U.S. , this game is MASSIVELY successful and has made immense amounts of money... do the original creators of DoTA from W3 receive royalites, salaries from DOTA 2? if so.. how much do they make.. if not, what did they sell it for?

I am just very interested in reading about the history/timeline of DOTA and it evolving into this massive game, and read about the creators experience throughout its beginning to end. I would love for their to be a documentary made about DOTA and its roots till now. (Theres a great idea for someone out there ;) )

I second almost everything (except for the CAPS, but that's a _small_/SMALL detail) ;)

A DotA documentary is ... actually ... mandatory (and DotA TV)

Icefrog created DotA, then was hired by Valve for Dota 2 a decade later.

I think a DotA documentary would be amazing of an idea... too bad I don't possess the knowledge or skill to do this or I would do it.

But, no one has answered.. how much do they make from their original idea now that DotA is a massive and successful game, both for fun and competition.

I don't think Icefrog created dota, he merely continued work on dota after the original creators left.

Icefrog didn't create DotA
There's actually a good introduction about the whole thing at Polygon, {LINK REMOVED}

But, resuming all this:
The first DotA was made by Eul. Then a bunch of clones appeared. Then Meian and Ragn0r put all the popular heroes from different DotA maps into one: DotA All-Stars. After some time, Steve Feak(Guinsoo) took over development. After some more time, he left to work at Riot, and Icefrog took over.

Nowadays, both Icefrog AND Eul work at Valve developing DOTA 2.

AoS came before DotA. But AoS was crap.
