Drow Ranger as a mid laner?

Ok, got into an argument with a QoP who claimed to have 800hours+ Spread over multiple accounts (No conformation) Who said Drow WAS NOT a mid laner. I wasnt playing Drow, mind you, Nyx support ftw. Anyway, Opinions, Facts and Figures here. I need the final verdict. She/He said that drow was A ranged carry which is true HOWEVER Ranged Carries ARE used in mid. He/She adamantly protested Drow was no mid laner. In the end we had Both of them mid. We still won though.

she can function in mid but i'd rather have qop there to be honest. i feel drow's better in the safe lane

Drow is awful everywhere, but would work least worst in a safelane where she can hopefully get uncontested, or less contested, farm.

Also, to say a ranged carry goes mid is sort of...off. You usually have a hero go mid that's an off-carry, and has strong solo abilities. Carries usually don't have those.

Drow's a decent mid-laner. Of course, Wisp is still the best mid-laner in the game, with Meepo a close second.

I do not like Drow as a mid lane, and would doubt that she'd be given mid all that often. In terms of farm, her range will get it in any lane. She almost never gets a bottle, so she has low survival apart from her range. Not to mention most runes will go to waste without a bottle. A mid is better defined for their ability to gank with the necessary levels, not a range carry. She has a slow, at level 1-3, and extra levels only give her damage, not gank potency.

QoP>Drow. Why?
Drow does not need those extra levels, only farm which she could have gotten from the side lanes.
Queen of Pain has dagger harass, which is deadly for most other mid heroes.
Queen has Blink, which sets up ganks easily/flees
Queen usually gets a bottle.
At level 6, she can get a kill on an Agility/Intelligence quite easily
At level 6, Drow has more damage, but cannot set up ganks very well without help from a number advantage or failed positioning.

Drow should hit lvl 6 soon, it's probably worht more than QoP's ulti, so that's why she probably should go mid. She's not a good offlaner, so...

Drow can be good in any lane. QoP is very good at mid and decent in the other lanes as well, but she can pull off ganks much better than drow can since she can blink in, slow people, drop a good AoE, and drop her ult that does a really strong nuke.

QoP would be a better mid hero than a Drow.

Drow's just a carry who can be put in any lane and end up stomping later on if they're not stupid. A drow can go mid and do terrible with last hitting and denying and still keep up with the others. She's basically the hero to go mid if you have no other mid heroes.

Just pointing out that this is blatant sarcasm, but a really good wisp is a really good mid hero. We saw this in the TI3 when dendi went wisp, he was dominating druid.

This is the best answer. There is no one answer as it will depends on the team setup but this answer covers the core aspects.
