leveling system in Dota 2
I think that the leveling system does not really represent how good a person is at Dota 2. What should be is that you get battle points for how well you play, not how much they play. What do you think?

steam or valve or dota2 developers added the lvling up system to make the game more interesting in the similar way they added this item system to make it interesting.

about the skill thing they already hav a system on play. players are categorized in different skill lvl :
1) Very high (professional player lvl)
2) High
3) Normal
according to which ur match is decided, although the lvl also plays a small part.
so a player with 100 lvl and "high" as skill lvl wont get a match making with player with lvl 50 and "very high" skill lvl.
If u want a proof go to watch - recent games - filter and you will see the Skill Level drop down menu.

actually they don't rate players in those skill levels. they only rate matches in those skill levels (depending on gpm, last hits and who knows what). the player rating which the matchmaking is based on is totally independent. if you played a very high rated match it doesn't neccessarily mean your skill is very high. it only means that you or another player (or the whole team) has performed very well.
so there only is a high probability that someone out of a very high match is actually rated higher (regarding the mm rating) than someone out of a normal rated match.

there actually is a post by a valve employee on the dota 2 dev about it but i'm a little too lazy to search for it.

i think it is hard to view how well a person has performed in a game like dota. just because you didnt get kills or farm well there is no way to tell if you saved a teammate or baited well or had strong game sense.

They said there would NEVER be a wipe, so even if they did do this. The lvl 100's are still lvl 100, and it won't change. So it wouldn't accomplish much.

The number of victory can represent how good a person is, but the matchmaking has to see our ratio when we play a game, then it can evalute our level in my opinion.

Why not just make a proper system? show both wins and losses, you gain exp / battle point when you win games and you lose exp / battle points when you lose games. Much better than this bullsh*t system we got now.

They might implement it once all heroes are added to the game. Lets give them some time guys.

The current system works fine, people just don't get what's actually happening. They see a players lvl and they think it's important, they search for their own replays and think, just because the game is rated "high skill" that says anything about their skill.

Bill Nye: great post :)

I prefer playing against those better than me as it makes you much better in a shorter period of time.

I honestly wish the skill and wins was hidden, due to last night a team literally calling "gg" and hiding from 5mins and 4 kills in! :(

Then called ff, with ALL towers remaining :\

Now me, on day one wouldn't have even checked someones wins let alone worry about it. Especially as I don't believe you see their losses ;)

I honestly don't mind getting a free item once in a while. Maybe we should implement what others have said, and just have two bars. One bar for free items, and another to influence your skill rating.

seeing skill level can be interesting as level doesn't reflect that information.
