ALWAYS [NO CHINA]? WHY?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wanna play dota2, and I have literally hundreds of friends who have invites but all state NO CHINA! WHy? It is so lame! I find it discriminating that everyone can play dota but chinese people? Just because I am in China I can't play it..... and I am English but live in China now.... it is REALLY lame. Is there ANY reason why all countries are allowed only except for one country, mine, : CHINA? WHY?

Your honest and loving government probably wants a cut or a bribe or something, I bet valve would love to have you guys - you're a HUGE market, and maybe they haven't greased the right wheels :-} I am sorry, maybe you're just excluded from the beta?

Becouse dota2 is in beta version ,and don't need huge server overflow.

Wow the ignorance.
China will get their entire own client for dota 2, And if Dota 2 wanna succeed they need to get the chinese into its, therefor valve had gotten into a partnership with perfect world, which willl offer "premium" services for dota 2 in china and also do the publicity there so it will start off good. Racism? More like good PR.

Video game console are illegal in china. That should give you a good idea.

I think merely its the whole thing about skeletons needing censored and likely legal issues.. but who knows I guess? Patience is a virtue or just keep hunting I spose.

Answer is right there, in case anyone missed it.
Dota2 is being distributed by Perfect World in China. Go to them if you want beta keys for China

Sign-up website for those who need it: http://www.dota2.com.cn/cdkey/
...at least I think so. I can't read Chinese

Also true, but that would be communism which has proven not to work in europe nor america I belive.
Well Japan did the right thing and banned some websites and games from America because Americans were being American and alwas making stupid news on them. I guess by experience you know what your country needs xP

Let's not start on this subject again please? Americans... Well yeah some of them got an IQ under 59 you should think. But the dwellers of the sea horse shaped island have done something they shouldn't be so proud of in their time.

Ok. And referring to my longer comment after the (rather meaningless) racist thing. The whole picture just doesnt make sense to me.
I have no idea either why dota isn't in China, at least when they release the game it will be. Just maybe because the Chinese Team won $1mil, they don't want more Chinese xP
Jokes aside, but I'm pretty sure it's about legal issues, valve doesn't wanna get sued by China.

This should help you gain a little better understanding of whats going on :)

You’ve got to address that market, it’s the biggest DOTA population in the world, right?” he said. The problem is that Valve can’t release Steam in China. Publishers need make distribution deals with Chinese companies to gain access to that vast player base. Valve have previously teamed up with Nexon to release Counter-Strike Online in Asia. Now they’re looking to forge a similar deal for Dota 2.

“We’re actively looking for a partner to work with over there,” Lombardi said. “It’s pretty cut and dry – you need a Chinese partner to be in China, period.”

Lombardi describes the prospect of a Chinese release of Steam as “a whole different ball of wax.” A more likely scenario would have Steam tech powering a Chinese service to keep the Asian version of Dota 2 updated.

“It’s thorny and it’s something that is new for us,” Lombardi admitted. “But it’s mandatory if we want DOTA to succeed so we’re on it and various senior people have been to China many times in the past few months.”

This was later written.

Co-CEO of Perfect World, Robert Hong Xiao had the following to say with regards to the partnership

Valve is one of the best developers of online games in the world. We are very excited to partner with Valve in bringing Dota 2 to Chinese gamers.

Dota 2, a refined work by the developers at Valve, has received great attention from players worldwide. With our years of expertise in delivering quality games in China, we are confident that adding this action strategy game to our diverse portfolio of games will bring additional world-class entertainment and premier gaming experiences to our players in China.

Managing director of Valve, Gabe Newell had the following to say in regards to the partnership

We knew when we started building Dota 2 that Dota was already loved by millions of gamers in China. Valve gave very careful consideration to which potential partner, among multiple candidates, would best serve the Chinese Dota community. In the end, Perfect World was the clear choice to best bring the full Dota 2 experience to customers in China. IceFrog, and the entire team at Valve, are looking forward to moving Dota 2 forward in China with the rest of the world.

Because the SEA players don't want a China invasion of our servers alike the Russian invasion of EU and US east west servers.

1. China can play under certain conditions ex: the white text keys.

The plausible reason then would be:
a) The game does not support a Chinese character keyboard and are awaiting for said content to be released before setting it to China, thus minimizing complaints about said missing keyboard (The complainers that can't play DOTA2 are much fewer than having the players play, but without the ability to express their language)

b) There is currently 1 server for China and they are awaiting for a greater capacity. Now with the language option, it seems all the more likely that these servers are needed. Read RãÐÎÕ⩶Îvê bÔMBä's post.

c) Skeleton Knight finally brought down censorship.

Steam in Shanghai is a server but why China can't use invitation letter, this is a regional discrimination, or vale's senior management is some of racial discrimination.
Roadstar 2013 年 2 月 8 日 上午 5:35
there is another chinese publisher in china, so you cant play it from valve distribution.
