Happened to me once, restarted my pc then it worked fine, also, if you switched from offline mode to online mode then launched dota that could also cause the problem, internet connection could also be the cause. Hope it helps, sry if it dont.

This is happening to me as well, while a game is loading, it will say "Disconnected for Server Unable to establish connection to server". I've tried restarting my computer and even my internet modem but nothing is working and there doesn't seem to be an answer online. I don't think it is my internet connection...

You're not the only one. I'm also having this problem and have tried countless things to solve it. So far I've also had no reply from valve.

I'm having the exact same problem. Anyone have further updates about this? Someone please post a fix.

Again, I've seen no solution to this problem. I've scoured the internet seeking a fix, but no officials are answering.
To be more specific, I play League of Legends, and other online Steam based games with NO CONNECTION PROBLEMS. I've checked the firewall, anti-virus, and have played other online games with no issue.
I cannot watch matches, nor can I play matches. When I accept a match, or go to watch a match, it takes me to the loading screen, which hangs there for 30 or so seconds, after which time it drops back to the menu saying the hackneyed phrase: WARNING - Disconnected from Server - Unable to establish connection to server.
Can someone please tackle this problem and offer a solution here?

Same situation as Rakshir has described for me. MC and LoL are perfect. Just Dota2 thats failing

I had the same problem. I fixed it by allowing it through my firewall. By default your firewall will allow Dota 2 private access, but not public access. Go to Control Panel>System and Security> under Windows Firewall select Allow an app through Windows Firewall>Change Settings> Scroll down to Dota 2 and make sure BOTH Public and Private are checked>Ok
Hopefully this will help you guys too! The public access must be needed to join a public server. :)

I had the same problem for days! It had nothing to do with my firewall. Nor windows or any other.. Problem was, that I recently bought a new router from TP-link, which blocked my in/out connection with steam and dota2.

The general routersettings differs from router to router, which is why you must go check if the settings allow steam to operate on your network. The ports to open should be from 27000 - 27999 to be on the safe side. Here you must pay attention to what kind of IP-settings your router has configured. You should always go with a static IP, (The same IP-adress all the time) - So your router doesnt create new ones every hour or so. Furthermore, you should go check out the DMZ (Demilitarized zone) This should be enabled to your current static IP-adress.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions, cuz this problem bothered me so damn much!!
