How LoL copied Dota
Hi guys I do not mean to start a comment war but I feel unjust for dota players, both 1 and 2.
I recently tried LoL to see what it is like but I find that many of their champions and their skills are exactly the same as dota's.
Here is the list.
LoL:Dota
Ashe:Drow Ranger
Corki:Gyrocopter
Elsie(or smth):Broodmother
And there are many more, these are a few direct copies and there are many more.
Now skills.
Karthus ult:Zeus ult
Ashe Q:Drow Q
Fiora ult:Juggernaut ult
Caitlyn Ult:Sniper ult
And there are many more.I feel that the devs of LoL took the skills of dota heroes, put them in a bingo machine and just make a "champion" of what ever that comes out.
Go do some research and tell me how u feel about this.

Okay okay okay, lets start here, which is more popular, bring that stat to light. I'm just saying if the copy has a larger player base than the original then is bad? 2nd Grow up Dota 2 COPIED DOTA OMG learn that. As people have already pointed, League did not copy dota, they pulled elements out that made dota good and then expanded on them to make league good. This isnt some History about Idea theft aka FACEBOOK; the Movie of how 1 guy single handly made facebook. No this is about how League and DOTA have a few features in common and people like you who think you made some amazing realization about this, have to bring it to light again, and again and again. You didnt even mention "Smite" or that SINS of a SOLAR EMPIRE MOBA or any of those other MOBA's. No you Picked the TOP MOBA's and then Say that 1 stole from the other. You know what this tells me you wanted me and others to type these long messages out. Just because you know that we would, What type of sick person are you. Now please until League changes its Name to DOTA Clone TROLOLO, Stop bringing posts like this to these threads. Its not a comprasion thread, this is a DOTA2 thread.

league of legends is clone of dota, guinsoo and pendragon left icefrog because they wanted to make profit from dota and he said that dota is free for all. they disagreed with him and joined riot to sell kids their clone of dota (lol previously was distributed on cd). even now its not free to play, you have to pay for every ♥♥♥♥ in their game to have chance with anyone. to be honest ive earned more in d2 for free in events (more than 100euro) than in any other online game.

also they are making really bad marketing releasing hero putting on sale buffing it to hell so kids can enjoy their purchase and free wins for some weeks, and after that "balancing" it. they keep copying every hero from their own game because lack of ideas. only with new marketing look, so kids gonna buy it becuz it looks like their favourite bioshock big dady, but in in reality is worse version of another hero.

All this time argueing over video games could be better spent just playing the one you like, you know.

....or reading a book.

Ironically these days other MOBA's copy LoL more than they do DotA, they have 1 passive and 4 actives, many have a move like slarks shadow dance where it is a combined passive and active, the free rotation, the wierd skins that make characters look ridicolous (I would rather outfit my hero in different armour than make him an astonaut!) and the removal of turn rate, night/day, and high ground.
In short, Dota 2 is actually one of the more unique MOBA's as people have forgotten the succes of the original MOBA and are instead distracted by the sucess of LoL.

2005: Dota is now version 6.01, Guinsoo passes control to Icefrog

2006: Riot founded, Guinsoo and Pendragon hired by Riot

2007: Developement of HoN's engine is being finished and work on actual game begins

2008: Dota 1 popularity increases and being played as an Esport

2009: League of Legends in closed beta

2009: Icefrog states in a blog post that he is working on Dota 2 for Vavle

2010: Pendragon closes the Dota Allstars website

2010: Icefrog starts playdota.com as official webstie for Dota 1

2010: HoN released as buy to play

2010: Valve officially announces Dota 2, Icefrog and Eul working for Valve

2013: Dota 2 officially released (beta is over)

Before 2003 there was only Aeon of Strife, which was a Starcraft custom map. AoS is considerd to be the origin of Dota however AoS was not PVP, and there weren't any RPG elements in the game. Players controlled 1 unit against AI opponents and could only purchase linear upgrades, the map was 3 lanes and the game's object was to destroy a certain building while defending yours from the AI.

So facts are Dota 1 was first, then LoL, then HoN. LoL did take a lot from Dota 1 but fair enough because Guinsoo worked on both, what wasn't fair was that Pendragon used the Dota Allstars forums to promote League and also continued to steal ideas from the community until finally closing it down. HoN was created with Icefrog's blessing which is why is was pretty much a 1:1 copy of Dota until going Free to Play and S2 changing / adding a lot.
Pretty sure you are accurate there

Yes the warcraft mod was, although I guess you could argue that it was SC somethings aeon of strife map that was the first

copy or not, will never be short of dota...

Pendragon stole several hero concepts from the DotA-Allstars.net forum that were submitted for consideration to be added to DotA. He stole mine as well.
