why does my hero stop moving?

My hero occansionally stops moving when i try to get somewhere... sometimes in critical situations, and no im not pressing any other buttons -.-

it starts going in the direction i want it to, but suddenly stops, as if i didnt want him/it/she to go any further

maybe reinstall dota? if it stops by creeps make sure to turn off auto attack. i dunno sometimes it happens to me but i know i hit "S" because i have a very sensitive keyboard

I have rebound my keys to fit HoN, so my "stop and hold"-button is H...
S is now spell 5 or something like that, yet i dont use it very often (only for invoker/etc) and nothing happens when i press S intetionally, so i dont think that is the issue

dunno then, if you have any spells that is close to "H" you might be hitting that by accident

Few possibilites.

You might be experiencing lag spikes.
Enable console and type in "net_graph 1".
That would allow you to see your latency without having to type "-ping" in the chat every now and then. Just type "net_graph 0" if you want to remove it.

Or you might be sharing control of your hero, and someone is trolling you.

Or you're clicking too much, and end up accidentally clicking in your minimap and not realizing it. But that would usually make you move elsewhere, not stop you.

Or there could be an invisible hero trying to block you. But that would only cause your character to try to move around an invisible object, not outrightly stop you.

If you're using wireless mouse, perhaps it's low on battery.

You need to test out your problems more and try to narrow down where the fault originates from. Good luck.

im very much sure it isnt lag either, got a 100/10 connection, wire, no firewalls or any such ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

certainly not clicking too much, thats why it annoys the ♥♥♥♥ out of me, because i just click once on the minimap to move back to base, or whatever, and then my hero stops all of a sudden... most often if a allocate skills at the same time, but not everytime, which is weird.

ive always used mouses with cord, i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate wireless laggy delay ♥♥♥♥...

personally i think its some weird bug because ive edited my keybindings, but then, ive checked them many times and there are no multiple stop-and-hold-binds, unless the games flawed and doesnt allow re-mapping of the keys

this is still happening, i right-click somewhere, often in critical situations, and the hero just stops moving, no buttons hit or anything

Yeah I had that happening too recently. I tell my hero to run somewhere
Then I look at allies or their battles. But then I realize that my hero stopped in the middle of his way for some reason.
I also went experiencing weird lagspikes happening suddenly, but they don't affect my hero's movement.

happens to me too , exactly because clickin on MINIMAP . and that one has nothing to do with the lag case.

HEY i found it ! - go to console and : dota_minimap_misclick_time
then see the value u have now . it shows it.
then type "dota_minimap_misclick_time 0 "
-and if you only have mouse very little time on minimap when you click there - it doesnt stop your hero anymore. - the higher value , the easier dota will stop your hero when u mouse visit click minimap. This command, and the basic value "0.4" is actually for trying to prevent minimap accidental click for the noobs
