dota 2 for 0.02 cents on the market?
i went onto the market and saw that there are over 600,000 thousand copies of dota 2 for sale. the game is 30$ but tons of these copies are less than 50 cents, the first 100 or so are only 2 cents. why is this? did someone pirate the game and give 20 free copies to everyone or something like that? or are all of these just scams?

Hardly, they sell cosmetic items and make a ton of cash from it.

Yep. More people into the game will make higher chance more people buying the not-so-important cosmetics items

that work well for valve....take a look on team fortress 2... nearly same. and people buy keys for chests like crazy to get some shiny items that dont make them stronger but better looking xD
Dota 2 is declared as free2play long time ago. Dota 2 in store used more as advertisement ("what if someone buy it?") it's very overpriced for what it comes with (2 bad common sets + decent courier) It's easy to get courier for 1 key ($2.5) and sets worth nothing if you ever need them you can find someone who sell for 10 cents.

Valve should just remove that invite2play nonsense. There are already 300K+ unused invites wandering in world.

And reduce price in store, or give better bonuses)

1. Buy invites
2. Invite half of India
3. *cheerful dance and song about the gal I love, with elefants and silly hats*
4. Profit

Any reason you decided to necro a thread from ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 2013?

Does anyone ever take the time to wonder if anyone in these old threads is still alive? There's probably a few cases where they've died.
And that's depressing.
