I'm actually very surprised that in this game there are MANY people in herald who have like 7K or even 10k hours and they cant leave the worst rank of the game.
I have played league and I have barely seen people with so many hours and in iron (which is the same as herald), i dont understand it.
It's also true that I have the impression that here people just really dont want to improve when they are in that rank, idk those are my first impressions of this game xD.

Well duh. Not everyone wants to be the pro bazzilion $ player, some just play for fun.

Also at some point everyone hits their ceiling. I've been playing video games for 15 years and I think I've hit my limit. There is no improvement to anything I do anymore.

I have 9.5K hours and I have been Archon 3 for the past 2 years. I could get coaching or watch videos to improve but I don't want too. I play between 0 and 3 matches a day. I accept the idea that I may be Archon for life. Each individual have to found the balance between competitivity and fun; Find yours.

Herald is the best rank to play in, always against smurfs and teamed up with noobs. The only way to rank up is to team up and many players can only solo que.

I have loads of hours and I'm doing the grind to get a higher rank but holy hell is the game the most unfun thing to do. I win matches but want to delete the game afterwards.

I have 2700 games and am guardian 2 but I only have 293 ranked games. I don't like playing ranked, I'm always learning a new hero/role and I don't want to do that with 4 stressed out angry 800mmr players who for whatever reason think it's going to make a difference if they get carried 1 more game before the lose streak comes xd.

the thing is, i play for fun, to kill time. not to get better or seek win but just good times.

also haven't played ranked for a long time, only did calibration and that was it.

turbo and ability draft is where its at.

all your usual tryhard sweaties only care about win but not me... even a lost game can be fun and engaging. i just love it when the game enters 60min tier 5 stage with both teams struggling like crazy, buying rapiers and trying to rat the rax etc that is the high octane action i play for. i don't care about rank, just give me more of that action.

Im herald. lots of people just dont care about rank. i just calibrate my rank every 1,2 year and just leave it be. game wants us to grind mmr. but im not a fan of rank. i just calibrate sometimes for fun. then i go back to playing custom games i like or other game mods.

From the data provided, yes herald rank occupied by most of dota2 players which is 20 percent of dota players. But the fact is dota 2 players in that rank probably at least get mid rank in other moba like league. Thats how high skill ceiling dota2 compared to other moba.

That's for a lifetime of all accounts. Not for a season with players who play currently isn't it?

Majority of players are actually in archon 2 and it's apparent if you played there.

All heralds only constitute a 10% of all players, a minority, of extreme characteristics.
