Why would valve lie about concurrent players?

Almost 300k online and queue takes 20 min for unranked. Online numbers have to be fake.Why would valve lie about concurrent players?Is dota finally dead ?

You meant why you have long q times while there is hundreds of thousands players online? Not why valve trying to lie to random guy?

You have long times because
1) behaviour split - if you don't have match found in more than 10 mins then yous bs most likely below iw 5 k. So you are in way smaller pool.
2) majority of those 300000 players are already playing game right now.
3) rank split. Perhaps you are too high/low on rank and something tells me you are not titan.
4) mode split. Since introduction of new bs a very big portion of people went to turbo to clean their bs stat.
5) role disparity. Majority of those 300000 people want to play same role as you - that means that THE MORE carries there are in game THE LONGER you wait for the q to get to YOU personally. As sup player even with low bs I never waited for a match that long.

If there will be 100000 more people that want to play same role than you you will be have to wait untill they ALL find the game before your turn to get game come. THATS WHY ITS CALLED A QUEUE.

considering 40min average game time and 10min. search, 20% - that is 60.000 Players in the search at all times.
Split this, through ranks and behavior score (which is very often much varied, so this is less of a factor anyways.)
...you see, game search would never take as long, with that player count.
But there is also the factor of bots in ranked games, so seems to be even less players.

Most of them are Russians, so ping difference do not let you find ur match fast, cause system checks regions

Valve is succesful, it is probably one of the most lucrative private video game companies, if they offered their stock for sale (which they won't) people would form lines longer than river Nile

All the reasons you gave were in force before 7.33 too, but the matchmaking time has clearly gone up. The quality of the games hasn´t.

EU West/East. Turbo/Ability Draft, takes about 10 seconds to 1 minute. piss bottle is a must.

I always play ranked, and at 6k bracket i get matches in under 1 minute as offlaner role.
