Why Faceless Void shouldn't be played as a carry

I see most people play Void as a position one carry going mask of madness and farming items such as midas and battlefury. Why do we think Faceless Void is such a hard carry? It's not because of his E, Time Lock is a really weak DPS booster even when inside Chronoshpere which gives double Time Lock damage. It's definitively Chronoshpere, as those four to five seconds of free attacking let him make the most out of his damage and attack speed items. The COOLDOWN, however, is unbearably long having been increased in the last two patches. Aghanim's Scepter reduces the cooldown. letting you have a Chronoshpere every sixty seconds. So we already know Void isn't the best DPS hero out there, and the only reason he's a good carry is because of Chronoshpere. Now, what if we could have a Chrono every minute AND a well-farmed ranged carry that can dish out better DPS than Void (Medusa, Sniper, Drow, etc.)? We can have this by putting Void in the offlane, making his first items Treads and Scepter while Morphling or whoever farms the safe lane. After Void gets his Scepter he can move into some DPS items, not always Mask of Madness but it is applicable to do some damage alongside the main carry. Putting him as a position one limits his best aspect as a hero as he will not get a scepter or at least not fast enough. Those were my thoughts on Void, one of my favorite heroes in Dota 2.

Here's a few ideas:
Strong Slow + Escape Mechanism
Evasion of EVERYTHING, giving great survivabiltiy
Fairly decent RNG disable
INSANELY powerful AoE disable

How dumb are you? The whole notion that heroes who are useless should be played as supports is indicative of not understanding the game, in fact supports have some of the best spells in the game. What makes a hero a support is their item independency. However FACELESS VOID AS A UTILITY OFFLANER WOULD NOT BE A SUPPORT. HE WOULD STILL BE A CORE. He wouldn't need as much farm as a position one carry but the team should make sure he gets his Scepter and some damage or survivability.

But what you are really seeing is a carry with the highest DPS gainth (i think?,Too lazy to check right now).

Best part of chrono is a well-placed one is a really powerfull disiable, that can synergize well with teams. ive long though that void can do fine played as a "regular" carry, as opposed to hard carry. i routinly see him do well with just a MoM (not a great item, but it works often enough @ the right skill level), and treads.

it comes down to your team. in random pub game, you probably want to just head for and early DPS item, and start killing stuff. in a more coorniated/skilled game, you probably want to maximize your usefullness with that huge disable (going aghs), pretty much the onlt part of void that isnt RNG (which i hate relying on and hate even more when i die to perma-bash/backtrack-killing-blow 3x nonsense).

NOt the hero i want to see as my prmary carry most games, although that mainly becuase 9/10 voids i see suck and ONLY win w/ sheer luck. not all , but most.

It's no big deal, I was just really confused as to why I was being called out haha. I see that other people have been much more aggressive towards the OP, so it's understandable.

This always has and does still work... The thread title is obviously incorrect - the argument here is that Void works well as a utility (that still does a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of damage), not that he should be played as a support. That would be dumb.
