Ability draft is hopelessly broken

It's almost always one sided. I always end up getting last pick. The last 4 times I got to choose my abilities I was either last pick or almost last pick, and ended up getting absolutely s*** skillsets while someone on the other team got invis and a spammable nuke, repel, shukuchi, some retaarded one shot crit combo, etc. Basically, if you have one of the above, it's gg.

Is there no way to fix this? Like, why is it that heroes' abilities can somehow magically combo to be either absolutely trash or absolutely amazing, if we assume hero abilities even out on average? And why is it that I always end up getting last pick? Is it because I haven't played this game mode before?

It's mostly broken because Radiant always gets first pick. Chem Rage on the board? Everyone knows which side wins. Wish they'd change it up sometimes and let Dire get the advantage.

LOL... It depends on how you pick skills... maybe you cant think fast to have combos or combination of skills...WHY me im playing ability draft and having last pick but i can still have good combination..

last pick is the only way to get a combo, but first picks get the best spells, alch ult tiny,etc, but if ur lucky and theyre noobs u can get napalm and ion or shakles.

Wait, isn't it random which side you get anyway? Regardless of if you think first pick always wins, I don't think this matters. I feel like it would be a pretty lateral change from "aw radiant always wins" to "aw, first pick always wins"

No idea what you talking about OP.. if you know how to use abilities and what you can combine or benefit from, you can do nice build even as semi last pick..

Had elder titan today in AD was 7th in line, got Arcana Orb from OD, so that the Witch with shaker passive would not stun lock using it.. then went for omni heal, pure dmg + farm capable and nice survivability.. then astral from OD to steal that needed int and save myself or make sure I can catch up to someone, and shaker ult..

seems like not much, but I was saving people left and right, nobody could run away, enemy wasting their abilities on me, and with enough items I was actually doing alot of dmg with that orb from OD..

So perhaps you just underestimating the not-so-powerful skills people ignore

I got tinker rockets, Pudge hook and Voodoo restoration with that.

You have to admit, that even in normal games, people counter pick themselves.. in ability draft them leaving out skills like earth shaker passive + sticking mana skills like timber ult, witch heal, or Arcane Orb from OD is asking to be stomped on

That's fine and all, kind of untrue.. there can't be just 9 abilities that are worth something in the game..

Re-arm + living armour............ I had other skills, didnt really need them though.
