Dota 2
Computer overheating when playing Dota 2
My computer overheats only when i play dota 2. I can play Civ 5 with all dlcs, Skyrim modded, LoL, Minecraft with Tekkit, and all the other games i have too. The game goes around 10-15 minutes in and then the computer just shuts down and it's really hot. This didn't start happening until a couple of days ago. I'm using a $1500 gaming pc that i got around a year ago.

Please help

I swear someone is going to ask you for your specs. But I totally understand what you mean DOTA 2 lately is getting very heavy on usage.

Volvo have said on their blog for the upcoming s2 engine, this lame engine uses cpu for all the hardwork even if you had 1 million dolar gpu, thats why overheating happen on dota 2 eventhough you had similar extreme settings on other games which work like wonder without overheating issues...

We'll see what happen when s2 engine come out...

Strangely enough I have the same issue. I discovered it's my GPU getting burning hot. I don't know why, and yeah it seems mostly a problem with DOTA (although I play little else on PC I admit). Though mine probably has to be running all day before it will shut itself down.
EDIT: And I have also tried cleaning it out with comp air

Maybe you should stop using Lina, Batrider, Ember Spirit, Clinkz, Phoenix etc. to avoid overheating problems

660's get hot, maybe you should replace with a 960? I know no other games have problems as you say, but maybe it's time to replace your graphics card.
