How to counter ursa?
Hey guys I'm relatively new to the game (only about 30 hours) and I am really enjoying the game (much more then lol) but I often find myself facing an ursa and no matter what hero I'm playing I can't find a way to counter him, he is too fast and does too much damage and since they always buy bkb they are hard to kill with magic damage. Even last game when we had a 2 player advantage we lost cause the other team had an ursa that got like 40 kills and was level 25 by min 20. I was playing sven and was the most powerful player on my team and even with my ult could barely touch him. I usually play physical melee heroes and was wondering if there was a certain item that is a hard counter to ursa, thankyou for your help.

Heavens halberd, oracle, blademail, abaddon, etc. etc. If you can disable him, or negate his damage like any other hard hitting carry (PA/Void especially) you'll be fine. Stunning works wonders as well.

Skull basher maybe. But if you really dont like ursa you should get good with visage. Take all his movement and attack speed and he's useless.

Heaven's Haelberd, Hexes, Tiny, basically any bad "on-hit" passive like axe...

To simplify: Google 'dota 2 disarms', 'dota 2 hexes', 'dota 2 stuns', and then google 'Oracle dota 2'.

TBH Ursa is easily counter if you understand the game. In this case you are new haven't the experience as one who has 1k+ hours. So rather than simply tell you how to play i'm gonna give you tips for dealing with Ursa, especially if said player had bought BKB.

BKB prevents magical damage correct, but not pure or physical damage. With this in mind several heroes come to mind, Pudge and Queen of Pain have abilities that are pure damage. Other heroes who fair well vs Ursa are Tidehunter and Legion Commander. Tidehunter Ultimate Ravage can still stun Ursa even though BKB is activated as the skill doesn't target. One other hero I held back Bane is personal favorite of mine vs Carries in general. His Ultimate bypasses BKB allowing you to target the hero and hold them in place despite not dealing damage. Since Grip has a longer duration than BKB you can safely shut ursa down.

Like i said you have to understand the game by playing multiple heroes and playstyles. The more you play the more you will learn how to deal with threats that give you problems.

oh yes. ursa is the nightmare for new players. especially if the player using ursa knows what he's doing.

you could try playing with ursa instead and see for yourself his problems. he can wreck squishy heroes and if buys a shadow blade, it's pretty much gg since very rarely new players buys any sort of detection.

anyway, ursa is not exactly very tanky and in your situation, i don't think we are going to see ursas using blink. picking heroes with good disables and staying away from him usually works well. pretty sure you are going to see lots of snipers and drow rangers. if they are in your team, tell them to not go toe-to-toe with the bear. i don't remember many games when i was new in dotes, but that's something that happened quite a lot. people trying to face ursa. just don't do that.

elaboration on the "Farm" point, you can gank him early on if hes jungling. jungle ursa isnt great, but it possible some people are doing that, just because "jungler" is one of his roles.

When I say farm I don't just mean jungle creeps, but at level 5/6 Ursa is likely to go to rosh
At that time you need people checking rosh so you can stop him from getting that 10 min aegis

Also denying and last hitting him out of lane helps well because he really sucks in lane

Cheap disable is Euls, either do it to yourself or him before BKB and run like a mofo while pinging allies for support

Also, force staff for escape
