What are the tankiest mids / supports?
I play mostly carries (and I am great at that). Unfortunately, sometimes I cant be the first to lock in in pubs so I may have to support.

This pretty much sucks because I hate support.

However, one of my most favorite heroes is Abadon, and lately I've been very surprised that even if I have o support with him rather than playing semicarry or solo bot like I used to, I still enjoy the game - and I am also pretty good at it and can win a game with the feeling that I made a significant contribution.

The reason for that is that, with Abadon, I can play aggressively, even be somewhat of a tank / initiator without many items, and that is what I need. My playstyle relies on always being in the fray and fighting.

So my question - are there any other supports or teamfight-oriented mids that can be played similarly aggressive?

I absolutely cant play more clasical supports like Rubick or Rhasta because they are too squishy for my taste.

Not a mid hero, but Earthshaker.

Pick when they have split pushers (Furion or brood [NOTE: Brood gives the lulz to ES]) or there is a Cancer Lancer.

Tanky mids?
Not many I could name, Pudge and Huskar spring to mind as strong and tanky mids
I have seen Sand king mid once as well.

Tanky supports?
Treant, Orge Magi and Wisp (wisp is very tanky later on however) are good tanky supports, the first two are tanky from the offset and Treant can do 80 damage upwards early lane phase

Treant hits like a truck going at 15 km/hr

Yea I know Ogre is kinda fine. I dont really like him but at at least I dont die from being looked at funnily. Could really try support tree, so far I only played him with radiance rush offlane.

Wisp really isnt my cup of tea, though. Had to play him for the hero challenge and hooooly sh!t, that was a pita. Basically I tried to harass (it was a 1v2 lane) and the enemy simply turned around and killed me, because he has, like, no health and armor at all...

How do you support with Earthshaker? I played him couple of times with farm, but without it he seems soo weak.

I just remembered Omni is a tanky support
With an item such as bloodstone he can have a decent 2K hp late game + unlimited mana

All he needs is his blink dagger.

As I said, if you see say a Brood pushing, watch the gold fly in when you land that ult.

He can farm very effectively while supporting.

That is why (some) play Alch as a Support, he can make up the gold spent on the team using his availability in fights.

I know i'm being a nazi here but I honestly don't like radience that much
It takes a log time to farm and if you accidently have it on whiel you are invis it gets you killed

Aside from that, treant support is pretty nasty

I tried treant carry once, at 20 mins I was hitting for 200 damage

You seem to play against dumb people then. As a carry mainer, here's my experince with shakers (assuming you have a suppport who wards but again, if people are bad you're not countering heroes you're countering lack of skill):
> See shaker in woods or somewhere
> get close (possibly with smoke, or you are riki and are invis anyways)
> silence him or use BKB
> he's dead before you are vulnerable again
> 5v4 easy teamwipe

Also, he has 3 finished core items, that's really damn good for a no-farm support. In my experience, unless you are dominating your lane it is not unusual for an ES to not even have dagger till 25 minutes or later... And dominating a lane is hard with a hero that gets 1 spell rotation before being oom, relies on meelee for 3 of his spells and has no gapcloser while (not having items) also has really low HP and armor for a meelee.

As for farming, well..... If you get a chance to do, that's awesome. But I dont usually get that as a support (in my latest Abadon support game I had less lasthits than minutes of gametime, for example... and that was in a game we dominated and I had 11-8-27 score or something!)

Radience tree was very popular in WC3 DotA. It's a VERY niche build though, it basically relies on outfarming everyone really hard (which isn't as hard as it sounds, since tree is lasthitting ez mode with his, idk, 90 or so damage at lv1), then standing next to them invisibly and basically permapush a lane to get ever more fed, while any attempts to dust-gang you will be countered by your team, your ult + radiance setting up easy kills.
If you dont get it early though, GG.

you can always take a not so tanky hero and make it more tanky with items,
examples are a ring of protection and a bracer

if you can't support you are a bad player, only noobs can play carry only

yes with smart cpt that make good tri lane agro vs your that make you carry garbage, when noobs learn that good supports/nukers win early game also good supports make space to nabs like you making you space to farm

every noob start with, this I will play carry only, supports are useless, you think why there is 5 hard carrys on low lvls pubs all time ?
