How many games till MMR balances?
I have about 50 games played and just started earlier this week. Sometimes I get paired with try hards who have been playing for years. Other times people who seem to have never played before and went straight into an all pick match. Rarely I get fair matches. How many games in till it puts me with people that make sense?

I have only played normal games, a few limited heroes matches and the rest have all been all pick. Shouldn't anything played right be high impact? Obviously not everything is a carry running around 1 shotting everyone, but surely you can raise your MMR by being a good support player.. Right?

Yes, you can. High impact heroes means high impact heroes, not carries. And not every hero is 'high impact.' Some heroes are highly situational picks that only fit in specific drafts, or something about them doesn't work amazingly in this meta. There's a very good reason support Io is highly unpopular in pubs, but can be a beast in Competitive. I play support quite a bit, and can win some of my matches just fine.
Also, if you already calibrated, you're at the MMR you belong. Quit ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about losing and play the game. You won't ever win any single game, it just doesn't happen.

You understand the game well enough, but your reading skills are atrocious. What QQ? What calibration I just stated I have about 50 games played with not one ranked match. Losing? I was complaining about being paired with people who have no clue just as much.

Ah, my bad, I skimmed through your posts, and your impressions on the game soured my view. Either way, you still have a hidden MMR in unranked, and if you're better than other players, you'll rise. You might see other players who seem awful at the game, but they could have the same problem as you, in that the execution is lacking, only difference being that you have more knowledge. Its something you have to deal with. Idiots, whether they truly are idiots or not, exist at all skill levels.
If having random teammates truly bothers you, play in a stack. Solves almost all issues you could have with the system.

Now my favorite quote.

I see... So normal games are a complete gong show for everybody?
No, I think it works just fine. Some people just prefer to blame the system for when they lose or can't get 5k MMR all the time.
I would expect it to start getting your MMR more or less correct between 50 and 100 matches. That being said, there are moments when it will remain wonky pretty much forever. The system isn't perfect and player variability is high.

Never. That would require a matchmaking system.
Valve™ uses their patented Random Number Generator® system to distribute the players currently queueing into games.

For just 50 shekels, you too can own your very own Compendium®. Those shekels will go towards improving DotA® 2™.
Anon? Is that you? Get back to Pol.

You can check your normal mmr on dotabuff but if only shows normal, high or very high skill. I think normal was below 3.4 or 3.5k mmr, high where normal ends and up to 3.7 or 3.8k. After that you just get very high skill, which it isnt tho :/

i have never touched ranked.

and now, after 1600 games, i finally broke into high skill games, i am waiting until i get to very high to play ranked, that way i will be put in 4k+ - And avoid grinding from 1k like a hasted idiot.

I suggest you to do the same

You're just punishing yourself by trying to grind MMR in unranked when you could be grinding it in ranked where people tend to take the game more seriously.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

You're crazy! Ranked players in the bracket I was thrown into are, for the most part, retarded jerks! They go FV and play it like axe, they pick sniper and build mekansm. They see a teammate die to FB, and they go sit in fount after saying "gg (teammate) noob ff".

My question is, if that's how your ranked games are, how bad are you unranked? And are you unranked games really a better competitive experience than your ranked games? If so I can only feel sorry for you.
I tend to play heroes I'm not very good at in unranked to get better at them. When I play heroes I am good at, my team usually wins. Just a few W/L on chars I am fairly good at: 12-3 viper, 9-3 undying, 11-6 pugna, 4-1 SS and PL, etc.
Bear in mind I don't often play chars I am actually GOOD at. I like to get better.

Thanks for proving my point. You've admitted that you tend to play heroes you aren't good at in unranked. And what I said was people tend to take ranked more seriously than unranked. Which for some reason you laughed and called crazy, yet here you are proving it.
PEOPLE tend to to ♥♥♥♥♥ around a lot more on ranked than unranked, I do the opposite- I'm an abnormal person. Perhaps in their own way, being a-holes with 'pro' strategies such as carry CM and mid-or-feed 'supporting' invoker is 'taking it seriously'. But it's hard to take a match seriously when the riki picker is diving the safelane tower at level 3, and the lion refuses to buy wards because 'he already bought a tango'.
