And I thought xiao8 announced his retirement or something
Means he is by himself for this match/nobody from his team is with him/mixture of teams.
standin means that the person is not the member of the team. They are just a stand-in for the team. u can google what stand-in means

It's a reference to the creator of DotA whose real name is Greg Standinov. In the days of WC3 DotA tournaments, there would be "Stand-Ov" (stand off) fun matches where the players had to stand up while playing, and to clarify that those games were as such players were required to put "Standin" in front of their name.
facepalm responses. check Pro Dota Rules, ans for ur question specifically : "Besides the official members a team has the right to use another person as a player during a match, if this person meets the following requirement: He is not member of another team or has played a game for another team within the competition. This person will be called "stand-in" in the following."

this post has been dead. which is hilarious, because you're judging others for not reading weird obscure pro gameplay rules.

although everyone should know what stand-in means.

the initial question was also asked over a year ago. you weren't helpful.

Also you were sort of making fun of the OP for not knowing the pro rules of dota, which i doubt is something most people read into. I was referring to the word "stand-in", since it's used in LOTS of places.

But the main point of my post was something along the lines of "It's ironic that you consider the OP's lack of pro dota standards facepalm-worthy when you yourself apparently didnt even bother to read the date that the question was asked". Feel free to try and shift the focus of my posts again, but the fact is you're being silly.
read this thread a year or two later to know what an ass you made outta urself.
