Sniper now gets 3000 attack range with AS.

A few problems.
1) If it bounced to group of units for (around about) 500 damage, then that makes sniper one of (if not the) best person to clear creep waves late game. Never mind the fact that he could do this every 10 seconds.
2) The bullet goes REALY fast (about 3000 units per second i think). Which means that the game would have to process process the damage done, then launch another bullet. This would cause low-end computers to lag (and most of the people who play dota do so on coputers in internet cafe's, so put the two together)
And 3) Linch's ult does the same thing as (your verson of) snipers, but sniper would do it WAY better than linch due to how how fast his projectile moves.
So it is not a bad idea for a agh's upgrade, but it needs a lot of tweeks (and what i listed above needs to be put into consiteration)

Actually damage is calculated on the servers side, also a computer "processing the damage done" would at most make 40 or so calculations(calculations such as addition take little time, its comparisons that take up all the processing time) per packet update. Even an extremly low end computer still can do a few hundred thousand calculations per second.

He wouldn't be much of a sniper then. More like a pistol weilder :P I think that it should be based on high damage and long range, such as is the case with an actual sniper.

Mystic Snake, however, does. They even increased the speed of it very recently, and I've never heard anyone complain about lag from it.
Mystic snake only travels at 800 movement speed, snipers projectlie travels at 2500. Snipers ult also has more particles than mystic snakes.

EDIT: And they did increase the speed of mystic snakes, but not by much to make a difference in this debate. (From the 6.82 patch notes "Mystic Snake outgoing speed increased from 633 to 800
Mystic Snake return speed reduced from 833 to 800")
For the record, I have never seen any specific spell lag out the game for anyone outside of humongous particle effects like Supernova or Ravage, occasionally Invo's meatball. I highly doubt a single Sniper shot bouncing around would cause problems. Usually "speed" and "damage calculations" alon don;t cause any lag whatsoever.
