Dota 2
HIGH PING IN DOTA 2 100-1000 ms
I just installed my windows 8.1 and I have a problem only with the dota 2 latency. With google I have 10-15 ms, in any other online games like cs go I have low latency, aroun 20-30 ms but in dota 2 it's between 100 and 1000. I am living in London and I'm playing on EU West. Anyone else had this problem and knows how to fix it? Tried almost everything i've found on google.

if your getting 100, live, youll be fine, if your getting 200 plus, move houses to get a better connection to the dota servers
It varies very fast from 100 to 1000 ms. It's unplayable, while every other online game has 10-50 latency.
Arent there any console commands or dota/steam settings which could fix the latency?

i know what you mean. make sure that your matchmaking servers are checked correctly to be only 1 and thats your lowest
I dont even have to connect to a matchmaking game. The latency varies very fast since I start dota2 and have net_graph 1. Dont really know how to explain it, I made a screenshot to see the latency ~900 ms. Since I open dota2 it varies from 200 to 1000.

Nobody knows how to fix this? I'm really out of ideas and I could use any tip about this issue
somebody, please :<
My guess is that your ISP must be routing the connection to the dota 2 server through lots of servers which makes the ping high. Do a traceroute and see if that's the problem. (http://www.mediacollege.com/internet/troubleshooter/traceroute.html)
And these are the Valve servers I think.. http://bgp.he.net/AS32590#_prefixes

Also you can search for help here http://dev.dota2.com/forumdisplay.php?f=23
Thanks for the tip, tried it and this is not the problem. I have 23 ms - 27 ms - 24 ms with EU West - luxmbourg server. Any other tips?
And btw, It was working fine a few days ago before I reinstalled my Windows. Don't think it's from the ISP. I had windows 7 then and now I installed windows 8.1 x64.
I still think it's something from settings, not from my ISP.
had the same problem and fixed it (not 100% but kinda did) but i need some answers

1st is it a laptop?
2nd if it is is it a dell?
3rd have u tried on wireless or with ethernet cable?

also to stabilise the Lag Spikes make a an autoexec.cfg file on dota2beta/dota/cfg folder and type these in :

rate "80000"
cl_updaterate "40"
cl_cmdrate "40"
cl_interp "0"
cl_interp_ratio "1"
cl_smooth "1"
cl_smoothtime "0.01"
hp laptop, wireless connection. already have these options, still doesnt work

thought it would be a laptop, 1st try with ethernet cable (that didnt fixed it for me but is worth try)
now what did fixed it for me is buying a cheap usb wifi adaptor 7euros solved my problem it went from 120ms with constant lag spikes too 70ms stable. If u dont want to buy one just borrow one from a friend also try disable ur ethernet card when u dont use it for somepeople it helped hope u fix it mate. let us know...

But the internet is working fine. the problem is only in dota 2. Should I still try with the usb wifi adaptor? And my in game ping varies from 100-200 to 1000-1500 ms while ping with google is 8 ms
