Shadow Fiend build?
Alright, so I've posted here a few times, and I think I have a better idea of build pattern, what not to get, and when to get it. I've watched a lot of videos, and read a lot about it. Anyone who plays Shadow Fiend often, let me know if this is "good". I also understand that there is no 100% of the time build, that things do change depending on the situation. Also, this is for mid lane.

Early game - start with Wraith Band and Tangos, or Wraith with two branches, if I can get a tango from the top and bottom. Rush a bottle asap, and basic boots. Try to get a Hand of Midas if you can get it pre 9 to 10 minutes. If not, go into finishing of boots. Get Threads if you are doing normal, get phase if you are doing really well.

Core items - Get Shadow blade next, then rushing into a Black King Bar so you can survive. This is all that consists of the "core items", as far as I can see.

Next I usually build Helm, and slowing start building Satanic if I'm doing really well. If I'm behind and need the additional damage right away, I get helm and build Manta Style, then finish of Satanic. Though I feel that Satanic is better after BKB, to make you survive more. Then I finish off with Butterfly. So, Boots, Shadow blade, BKB, Satanic, Manta, Butterfly. I sell Midas as late as I possibly can, to get as much gold and experience out of it as I possible can.

Be critical, thanks for the comments.

I hate getting shadow blade on SF. It's a bit gimmicky and I prefer to just stay and farm for an item that will be more usefull mid to late. The problem with getting satanic after bkb is that your damage output is going to be delayed a lot. I prefer to get a damage item first unless I absolutely need a bkb. I'm by no means a pro sf player, this is just my opinion.

I play shadow fiend a lot and I would recommend blink over shadow blade on shadow fiend any day. Generally I build satanic when I am behind and Daedalus when I am ahead. Other than that most of the items are good on him.

I've tried blink on him, and if I'm doing really well then it's a possible item. My only issue with it is that it's not nearly as good as it use to be. In the original dota, it didn't have a cooldown when you were hit, so you could blink out anyway. It was broken, but better. It also gives no stats, which is generally why I like SB better, even though SB doesn't give a whole lot ether. Just the ability to use the invisibility from Shadow Blade, to walk right on top of someone and ulti, it almost is an instant kill if you have full souls. Though like I said, if I'm pretty ahead blink is a better option, I agree here. My thought with the BKB and Satanic is that I can put out decent damage, and I can prevent magic damage from BKB, and the active on Satanic will keep me alive through the Auto Attackers. It doesn't always work, though it is the theory behind why I do get it.

In higher teirs of play if they see you with a Shadowblade, you become usless when they get detection

You can skip BKB if they don't have much stunlock

So without Shadow Blade, because it becomes useless with detection, what would you get instead? If you blink in to use your ulti it lets them focus you down pretty hard. Do you just not initiate this way without the SB? A buddy of mine likes to get Yasha instead of SB, and eventually build it into S&Y over SB. Would this be better?

I like blink if you're ahead. Otherwise I don't usually get it. I also like to go casual yasha on sf as my first item which can later be built into a manta. First major item would then be daedelus

I tried Blink again, I think I'm down with using blink over SB, it worked great.

Mek with butterfly and crit/mjolnir/desolator/satanic.

If you get insanely ahead, I prefer to use this build. I can't remember the order of purchases, but you end up wailing on them so freakin' hard.

They didn't have any stuns that would have hurt me or locked me down, so I could get away with it.

Most SF games you will need a BKB. Thus you have a couple of options:

1) Treads > Blink > BKB > situational
2) Treads > Yasha > BKB > situational
3) Treads > SB (Not advised) > BKB > situational
4) Boots of Travel (rushed) > BKB > situational

SF usually needs a BKB not only because of the stunlock fear, but because he has ♥♥♥♥ HP. Even regular magical nukes do a ton of damage to him. BKB keeps you up in fights where you can do immense damage with your ult followed by a series of Razes.

If you go mid, you can add a Bottle/Magic Wand in there somewhere.

shadowblade is better for carry mode, and dagger for initiator mode, your choice personally i prefer sb because of backstab+deadlus+necromastery. also sb is better early game if you can get it under 15m. sometime if im doing really well like 5/0 im going for mom to snowball better, otherwise late game is satanic. bkb is pretty standard everytime because you need that str to boost your hp, skadi if you dont know what to do with gold but butter and dealdus are must.

BF and Daedalus are definitely items you want most games. Skadi also has good synergy with Satanic.

MOM sees a lot more action these days because it's cheap.

FYI Backstab can't crit.
