I get this same behaviour in every game I play on steam (nmrih, ns2, dota). Randomly it just stops responding for a few seconds OR disconnects. I haven't had this problem in other games (SC2, D3).
Weird enough, I noticed that on occasions when I streamed something random on the background, I never got this disconnect issue.. and that makes no sense at all, I know. So since that I always put on some random stream and play. Except last night. And I got a huge lag, almost dc.
I'm pretty sure these two separate things have absolutely nothing incommon, but I like my tinfoilhat and I'm keeping it where it sits.
I have asked others if they have the problem, some said no, some said they have, but no one I have ran into is having them consistantly every 30-60 seconds during every game.
It's like there is packet loss, but it appears to be in receiving, not transmitting because like I said, my hero responds, even while lagged out.
I am glad its not just me. I just did a test on pingtest.net and got no packet lose and 60ms ping times. It's definately Dota2
I am going to run a ping and dump it to text for a whole game.
Yes I have an Asus router, works very well, only 3 months old.
I did not know DOTA 2 ran on Linux... To be honest the ONLY reason I sitll run Windows is games. I primarily play DOTA, but you know I do wander off to other games once in awhile, so I don't know if I can make that switch yet. I am really happy to hear that though.
I have deleted and reinstalled Steam and DOTA, that didn't do anything either.
I wish I know the IP or hostname of the server I was playing on, I would rather run a ping test to it.
