Connection Problem, Auto Disconnecting in X Seconds
So since the most recent patch, I want to say 3-4 days ago, my Dota 2 is acting really strange in games.

First off my internet is fine. I am doing all kinds of stuff online and nothing ever happens, its only while actually in a Dota 2 game. The game will freeze, kind of like its lag, like a dead freeze. Sometimes its long enough that the "Connection Problem, Auto disconnect in X seconds" comes up it will have some IP followed by a port number, its always in the 20k range.

So I know your going to say triple check your connection. I more than did that. I even ran a ping test to Google.com and piped it to a .txt file and checked it after the game. Everything is fine.

Now this is why I say its weird.... Lets say I am going north, or upwards on the map... freezes, OH ♥♥♥♥, right?.... say I click down to my turret.... 10 seconds later it comes back on.... I am standing exactly where I clicked. The game is still going and my outgoing commands are being issues to the server because its responding to me while I am "disconnected"

I disabled Firewall, Antivirus, Cleared game cache, reboot numerous times, shoot right now I disabled anything that could even talk to the net to see if a program is malfunctioning, but I am almost certain its not because it's only while in-game for Dota 2.

Am I the only one experiencing this? It's consistant too. Everytime I play, every 1-5 minutes I get a 1-15 seconds spike, game says I am offline and disconnecting but when it comes to, I did exactly everything I told it to do. ♥♥♥♥ I even won a few fights and when I got control back, people are like "nice job" but I guessed all the buttons and actions and got lucky (that's pretty rare I usually die).

Going to try a west server now. I play US East normally.

Do you play other mp games? Do you experience same issue with other games?

I get this same behaviour in every game I play on steam (nmrih, ns2, dota). Randomly it just stops responding for a few seconds OR disconnects. I haven't had this problem in other games (SC2, D3).

Weird enough, I noticed that on occasions when I streamed something random on the background, I never got this disconnect issue.. and that makes no sense at all, I know. So since that I always put on some random stream and play. Except last night. And I got a huge lag, almost dc.

I'm pretty sure these two separate things have absolutely nothing incommon, but I like my tinfoilhat and I'm keeping it where it sits.

well it's funny/wierd to say that it's steam/valve servers prob while my friends/others can normally play but well okay my net connection might be sh1t comper to others e.x vdsl connections but still those guys got the same prob as me so i will say is valve servers prob

Mine locks up though, says I am disconnecting (like I am having net problems), but when the game comes back to, my hero has done everything I have asked him too (like I was not having net problems at all).

I have asked others if they have the problem, some said no, some said they have, but no one I have ran into is having them consistantly every 30-60 seconds during every game.

It's like there is packet loss, but it appears to be in receiving, not transmitting because like I said, my hero responds, even while lagged out.

Me too. I have the exact same issue, Intert works, Steam works, Dota starts fine, then DC message, and even there I still have audio of everything that is happening. (Including the hero speaking as I perform actions with they) but image is frozen. And I did pretty much everything you did too, looking and waiting for a solution for days now.

I am glad its not just me. I just did a test on pingtest.net and got no packet lose and 60ms ping times. It's definately Dota2

So you got this disconnect thing and in the background you ran timestamped pings to other sites which didn't time out? that is interesting. Do you have a router?

This seems to be a problem on the client side and there is not much you can do a bout it. I saw this today when I started up the game and tried to spectate a friends game. My friends said this was happening too. What I will say is that I saw none of this in the linux client. Answer - go linux :D

Yes pings never fail. I will have tried pingtest.net too numerous times, pretty minor jitter, so the ping times are consistant.

I am going to run a ping and dump it to text for a whole game.

Yes I have an Asus router, works very well, only 3 months old.

I did not know DOTA 2 ran on Linux... To be honest the ONLY reason I sitll run Windows is games. I primarily play DOTA, but you know I do wander off to other games once in awhile, so I don't know if I can make that switch yet. I am really happy to hear that though.

I have deleted and reinstalled Steam and DOTA, that didn't do anything either.

I wish I know the IP or hostname of the server I was playing on, I would rather run a ping test to it.
